Growing a Business… The One Guaranteed Tip for Success
You’re sitting there, scratching your head, just stuck!
Feeling a bit frustrated?
Tried heaps of things over the years but not achieving the success you anticipated?
Feel like you’re working so hard for no returns?
Well ask yourself, just exactly what ARE you doing every day.
Are they truly productive, high yield activities for today and the future?
Or are you kidding yourself?
Growing a Business NOW, and For The Long-Term…
You have read all the goal setting ideas out there.
You have written so many to-do lists, even bought special printed pads for that purpose.
How often do you manage to complete everything on those daily lists? If you’re like me, never!
You know, there is one main rule you can start applying today that will immediately increase your productivity and help in growing a business like yours.
Choose just 1 productive activity to complete each day BEFORE doing anything else. Especially before opening your email. This one action is guaranteed to start growing a business, any business.
I can hear you nodding agreement. But what activities are really high yield?
A few Examples Of High Yield Activities For Growing a Business Are:
- Create content for a page or post on your site
- Writing an article for the product or company you are promoting
- Writing sales copy
- Create a video tutorial and post it to your blog
- Write an email broadcast
- Writing an autoresponder sequence
- Create a blog post
In other words, these are creative activities that help you be seen online. Plus they are permanent and bring returns from now on.
Checking emails, staying on the phone for hours on end, and doing research (without applying it) leads to low productivity and minimal results for your business.
Don’t feel guilty – we all do it.
But when you do one of the high yield activities above, you know you feel a sense of achievement immediately afterwards.
After creating original content, spend time distributing the content to your list, Facebook, Twitter or other networks.
Many of the tasks above will bring you immediate results, such as clicks to your offer, establishing a relationship with your readers, gaining new subscribers etc, others will play a part in getting you one step closer to your desired outcome – making more money.
You’ll see that all the tasks above don’t come with time schedules or certain deadlines for completion. It is up to you to choose 1 most productive task for the day, and complete that first.
Then, take a break for 15 minutes and check your Facebook or email (could be dangerous!). After 15 minutes – STOP! Then, move on to another high yield activity.
I often ask someone else like my husband to time me in a specific activity. Sometimes a whole day can pass unproductively if you just let the internet keep you engrossed.
Allocate time for those fun activities after completing at least one top productive activity. A bit like eating your greens before the icecream
A few Examples Of Low Yield Activities that Stop Growing a Business Are:
- Checking email constantly
- Engaging in unproductive PMs on Facebook, Twitter and other social networks
- Buying course after course without applying any of the teachings
- Spending too much time on perfecting your site
- Doing too much research without taking action
- Constantly checking statistics on your programs or products
Know how I know all these things on the list? Cos I’m guilty of them all. Plus a few others you can add.
What Else can You Do to Keep Growing a Business?
This is much easier than it sounds – simply pick out 1 or 2 productive activities and DO THEM FIRST.
Sometimes when I remember at the end of each day, I make a quick list of a few things I want to achieve the next day. My main work desk is currently in my bedroom!
This often leads to me thinking about how to achieve these tasks and they get accomplished much quicker.
Every day, my list includes either writing a blog post, making a video or making an audio file. These are daily activities encouraged in the Empower Network, along with another 5 Core Steps.
Once I’ve completed one of these tasks, I can do a few other activities.
Once you get good at accomplishing those all-important 1 or 2 productive activities, you can add another high yield activity on to your list. You’ll find that with practice, completing 1 or 2 important tasks will lead to more productivity in your business and it will become easier as you progress.
You’ve heard the expression “Practice Makes Perfect” . What took you an hour to complete before, will only take 15 minutes to complete as you improve.
Take short breaks when you need them, or in-between tasks. Don’t sit at your computer hour after hour – jump up every 15 – 30 mins and walk somewhere or do some physical activity.
And never create huge To-Do Lists for the day!
To start … Make a list of 1.
Well, I’ve almost completed my really high yield activity for today (this blog post), something I know will help growing a business like blogging.
If you have a blog, please feel free to use some of these ideas. I researched and found most of them online myself.
And then you will learn so much about growing a business online with blogging.
