AdWords is Google’s popular online advertising program. Many successful marketers use AdWords. It helps you to reach new customers and grow your business. AdWords allow you to choose where your advertisement appears; set a budget of your choice; and measure the impact of your advertisement.
Before setting up a Google AdWords ad campaign, you need to decide on the keywords and phrases you intend to use. This is very critical to the success of your campaign. By selecting the right keyword list for your campaign, you will be able to display your ads to your target market.
It is advisable to select between five to ten keywords. People tend to list a whole host of keywords. By doing so they assume that they will get plenty of clicks. Unfortunately it does not work that way. Usually only two or three keywords will receive most of the clicks. This has been proved time and again.
While selecting your keywords, you need to wear your prospect’s hat. Think for a moment what phrase your prospect will search on. Check if the keyword is relevant to your product or service.
Your keywords should relate to your advertisement’s theme. It is important to note that if your keywords are too specific, you may not be able to reach more people.
On the other hand choosing general keywords will make it difficult to reach potential customers. Because your advertisement will be displayed to people who may not be interested in your product or service. It is very important to keep testing.
It is a good idea to group your keywords into themes based on business, products or services. This enables you to create ads about your keyword themes. This will also allow you to keep your account better organized.
It is advisable to use Google AdWords Keyword Tool. Type the keywords you think your prospects will use to search in the word or phrase field in the keyword tool and search.
The tool will display many results. It is advisable to focus on the global monthly searches. Here you will see the total number of searches for each keyword during the last 30 days.
It is a good idea to look for keywords that return search numbers between 10,000 and 100,000. Most of the successful internet marketers do that. Check for the level of competition.
It is advisable to opt for keywords with low competition. This would lead to lower CPC (cost per click) and more clicks based on budget, thereby resulting in better ROI (return on investment).
Negative keywords help you reach the most interested customers. They reduce costs and increase your return on investment. It is important to choose your negative keywords carefully. Too many negative keywords will result in your ads reaching few people who matter to you.
By implementing the above-mentioned tips while choosing keywords for your AdWords ad campaign, you will be able to drive many prospects to your landing page.
