One song down memory lane

Has it ever happened to you, that you sit somewhere, for example a restaurant, and a song starts to play in the background and it immediately has your attention? It might be a catchy new tune or it can be a old song that takes you down memory lane…

Music has the unique power to take you anywhere in the world, cheer you up, make you feel better or even bring you to tears and it is remarkable to think how many people never realize how powerful music can be. I have seen people develop goosebumps by just listening to the words of a song. Remember the feeling when someone asked you to listen to a specific song, to tell you how he or she felt about you…? And when you hear it after how many years, it mostly brings a smile to your face or at least touches your emotions.

Everywhere you go, you will find that people are influenced by music. From restaurants, playing soft, slowish music to create a relaxed vibe, to sport stadiums where they use loud, lively music to create a buzz in the crowd. Many people listen to certain songs to either calm them or to get the blood pumping. Imagine the effect that classical music will have on people in a gym for example… I seriously doubt it that gym will have many members.

But nothing comes close to a song that makes you think of a loved one. the first kiss, the smell of that person’s perfume, the touch of his or her hand, the sound of that person’s voice and the twinkle in his or her eye and that everlasting smile… It takes you back years down the line and it happens in mere seconds. Sometimes that little trip down memory lane, can either put a smile back on your face or make you wish you could turn back the hands of time…if only maybe once.

So maybe next time you hear that special song, you will embrace and respect the power of music and enjoy the ride down memory lane.

Enjoy the ride…after all,…it is your memories.
