You probably recognize that chronic stress can be very unhealthy. However, have you failed to realize the very real effects stress can have in your life?
For example, research has linked chronic stress to:
- Poor immune function
- Heart disease
- Mental decline
- Weight gain
- Increased risk of cancer
- Arthritis
- Sleep problems
- Depression
- Diabetes
Disease is the effect of chronic stress,
but what is the cause?
You really need to determine the cause of your emotional and physical stress. It is not something that is happening to you; rather stress is something you are doing to yourself.
Three Techniques for balancing physical stress:
1.) Sleep is essential for pain relief, healing, and de-stressing. Try eating some fruit before going to bed. The natural sugar in the fruit causes the brain to produce serotonin. Serotonin plays a central role in sleep, moods, and pain control. Avoid high protein foods in the evening. Protein can block the production of serotonin.
2.) Physical activity helps you sleep. Your mind may be tired out at the end of the day, but if your body has received no exercise then it is difficult to fall asleep.
3.) Be aware. Everything you eat, say, think, do, see, and feel affects your overall state of balance and therefore your health. In order to balance your emotions and de-stress yourself take the time to study yourself.
Start by asking yourself questions and studying your behaviours and patterns.
Why do you get angry?
Do you get a cold or other illness a few days after an angry outburst?
Unhealthy stress is a silent killer. When you are mentally and emotionally stressed every cell in your body is affected. The state of your mind can turn your body from alkaline to acidic in a matter of minutes. Diseases thrive in an acidic environment.
If you want to prevent disease, then you must reduce stress. You do not have to eliminate all stress, but you certainly must reduce stress and keep your body’s pH balanced.
Did you know the placebo affect has been proven by even the pharmaceutical industry? The placebo affect has shown that up to 40 percent of people cure themselves with nothing more than thoughts. The belief that the body is healing itself is enough to start the healing process.
Again, be aware of what you say and how you think because this can absolutely give you disease. Remember to smile, laugh, listen to de-stressing music, give and receive hugs, eliminate depression, and enjoy life.
