Seems like everyone is blogging these days? “Why Should I Blog?” you ask yourself. “who is interested in what I have to say?” You would be surprised! Blogging isn’t about what you have to say. Blogging is about WHY you have to say it! There are so many reasons why you should blog. Check out these ideas:

Nine Powerful Answers To “Why Should I Blog?”

Why Should I Blog #1: Because You Have An Opinion!

You may not be the best writer, or speller, or you may not consider yourself articulate. You may not like to speak up amongst a crowd or put your hand up when asked if you have any questions or comments. But in a blog, your viewpoint comes into play on a neutral playfield. And the more you blog about a topic, the more credibility you will develop amongst your readers. Maybe you love movies and have an opinion on every movie you see. Maybe you are a realtor and have an opinion on the real estate markets or how a home should be prepared before it is put on the market. Maybe you love to spend time in the kitchen and are trying out new recipes, new ingredients, new cooking utensils and have an opinion based on your discoveries. Someone will find your perspective enlightening, educational or inspirational.

Why Should I Blog #2: Because You Are Creating A Brand!

Your brand might be you or it might be a business you are running or it might be an alias that you are creating. Whatever that brand is, your blog is going to create relevance and credibility amongst your readers and possibly customers. Your objective is to contribute to brand loyalty so that when your readers see that you have a new blog post out, they will want to read it because they know they will be entertained or enlightened or challenged or inspired. Your blog will create the value in your brand.

Why Should I Blog #3: Because You Have Something To Promote

Promotion doesn’t always have to mean selling. You may wish to promote a conspiracy theory because you believe the truth isn’t being told. You may want to write about your religious beliefs and help people see that there is still room in people’s lives for God and faith. You may have a grandma who makes the most beautiful baby slippers and you think others should know about it. When you have a message that you feel should be made more aware, your blog allows you to promote your message or product. It isn’t just a sales pitch. People see right through that. Offer a message with value and content, and your readers will appreciate what you are promoting.

Why Should I Blog #4: Because You Want To Help People

We all have a story to tell. There is probably something that has happened in your life that you have overcome and now you have an experience that can help others. Maybe you beat cancer. Your story and experience could help others with their medical costs, it could inspire them to stand firm, it could provide encouragement to the family. Maybe you home school your children and have a ton of resources that could help other parents that are entertaining the idea of doing the same. Maybe you have lost weight and want to help others get their health and happiness back. Your blog will allow you to give to others and help them in a way that a big company with no face could ever do.

Why Should I Blog #5: Because You Want To Create A Community

If you want to create a community where other people can come together to share stories and experiences, then a blog is a great way to do this. As the author, your blog posts will stimulate the conversations and as other like-minded people read your blog and comment on the articles, you will begin to see a fellowship of people develop. Let’s say your passion is golfing in Florida. Every post you write will be specific to a certain golf course, or pro shop, or techniques and you will find others that share your opinions or can shed a unique light on the topic.

Why Should I Blog #6: Because You Are The Expert!

Maybe you aren’t the expert…. yet! But a blog will give you the opportunity to make you look like an expert! What if I told you this was one of my very first blog articles? Would you believe me? The point here is that you have the time to create content that has been researched if it doesn’t come automatically from your mind or life experience. Be the “Donald Trump” in your field of expertise, whether you are a chef or a general contractor or in insurance sales. Your blog will show you to be the expert, so every time you write an article that is specific to your niche, your readers will respect you.

Why Should I Blog #7: Because You Want To Make Money!

Blogging for profit is another great reason for starting a blog. Depending on what you write about will determine how much money you make, but the real secret to blogging with the intention of making money has everything to do with all the reasons above. You can’t just write about how you want to make money. Your readers will simply say “join the club” and move on to another web page. Your content has to be interesting, educational, have a compelling offer or a solution to the person’s problem, and then a call to action. There are many ways to generate income from blogging and monetize your pages. Take a look at this blog page as an example. There are banners at the top of the page, along the right margin, and at the bottom. There will also be a “call to action” at the end of my page. My company teaches people how to do this.

Why Should I Blog #8: Because It Makes You Think!

As you become more fluid as a writer and in your hot topics, you will be motivated to stay abreast of current developments in your field and create your own opinion on the subject. For example, let’s say you are a BMW affectionado. You will want to stay alert to new developments with the company’s products. Maybe they just launched a new prototype. Maybe a model is getting recalled due to a faulty part. Maybe the BMW dealership in your town is having an incredible sale. whatever the case may be, as you become more of an expert in your topic of interest, you will want to keep ahead of the curve by scouring the internet, newspapers and such for valuable “hot off the press” information that you can share with others.

Why Should I Blog #9: Because It Will Become Part Of Your Legacy

As you become more comfortable in writing, not only will your blogs be full of valuable content for others, but your personality and life experience will be inter-twined through pages and pages of content. Imagine making blogging part of your daily or weekly routine and you did this for years? The pages you author will be available for public consumption for the rest of your life and beyond.
