How many times have you tried to quit smoking? I did have one success a little over a decade ago where I was direct selling these natural stop smoking kits and within 7 days you were guaranteed to stop smoking. Well, it worked great for me and I didn’t smoke for 2 1/2 years. And then, I had one at a wedding and I was pretty much hooked again.
After that I know for me it has probably been several hundred attempts to quit. Recently, I have counted down many days to where I knew I would run out before I went to bed, pray for God to remove that taste from my body, wake up the next morning feeling fine for a while and then breakdown and go buy some more. Well, I’m not going to go down that path any longer. It’s basically insanity – doing the same thing over and over with the same result and not changing.
So, what was the difference when I had the “secret stop smoking pill” and my failed attempts after? Mindset. I truly wanted to quit and the pill, even if it was a placebo, was going to work for me and it did. And then after, my mindset wasn’t right, if I really wanted to quit I would have quit.
So, now I’m making the decision to quit. As of this writing I am looking down at my last cigarette, for the last time, and making the decision to just do it. No pills, no nicotine patches, no nicotine gum, smoking hypnotism, e-cigarretes to slowly stop smoking, just doing it. Making the decision, putting into action and getting the results that I desire.
No more a slave to cigarettes. For those of you that smoke, you probably know what I’m talking about. What is on your mind a lot when you smoke? If you are a regular smoker, it could be things like, I’m down to 2 cigarettes and I can’t get to a store until later, so I may have to borrow from someone at work to get me through. Or, dang, I already somehow smoked a pack today and am buying another one, I should have got the 2 pack deal this morning to save money. Heck, the list goes on and on, but some of the one’s I know I’ve used, well it’s going to be a stressful week at work and I can’t quit now, or it’s the holidays, or I’m going on vacation, just all plain excuses.
No more funky breath, no more stinky clothes, no more coming back inside from a smoke break funkin up a room and the list could go on and on.
I came across this scripture tonight and it is so awesome:
Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. (3 John 1:2 – NKJV)
We weren’t created just to come here and live a mundane life and not be truly able to do what we were called to do. We are health, we are success, we are abundance, we are life, we are and can be anything we want to be and do what we truly were called here to do.
Dr. Joseph Murphy in his book, The Power of Your Subconscious Mind, states this, and I’m paraphrasing (page 85 & 86):
Suppose you want to get rid of a destructive habit. Get into a sleepy state, and in that sleepy state, say quietly over and over, “I am completely free from this habit; harmony and peace of mind reign supreme”.
My point, I am making a decision to do it and I want you to be a part of this. Are you ready? Are you in? Tired of making the same excuses, just tired of being tired of smoking?
Well, I am. JOIN ME! Whether you read this on the first day that I quit or the 100th day, just jump in, make a decision. We can share our quit stories and tell others how we did it. I know it was my will that broke down so many times before and I truly didn’t make that conscious and unconscious decision that I really wanted it.
Well, that’s it. I just returned from the last one. I will keep you all updated on the progress and I encourage people to join me, just do it.
I will update tomorrow but I will also be sharing the next quit declaration and I truly encourage you to embark on that mission with me. It will be life changing.
God Bless.
