How can I make my situation change?  Ever asked that question of yourself in the dark of the night while you pace back and forth in your own mind?

Alone with our thoughts

I did once while I was laying in a bed looking around a room that I did not know waiting for someone to come in the door.  It was that day that I decided someone’s opinion was never again going to be my reality.

The doctor said the reality was I would never walk again nor would I ever be without pain, so I will for the rest of my life be dependent on medication and constant medical attention.  WHY?  An accident while at work that I had no control over ends my career, ends my enjoyment of life, and makes me less than others around me.  Some would say it was the worst day of a my life, I found it to be the beginning of my potential and life.  For this event forced me to face the truth about who I am internally.

Before; I worked 24/7/365 literally on call or away from home for days or weeks at a time.  Making Great Money, but never seeing my family, never knowing my young son; who for the first 8 years of his life I was not really a Dad.  I spent my life making an income to provide for my family but I never really understood who they were.

For nine months I sat there each day medicated and not understanding what was going on around me almost in a medical coma.  Then one day I CHOSE to LIVE AGAIN.  I would not allow my mind to be stagnate any longer, I would not allow a Dr. to tell me what my body was capable of doing.  I took my life back!

PAIN: there are no words that can describe what I endured, and I would NOT recommend anyone ever take the actions I took.  When I chose to stop taking pain medication the doctor said it would take two years to come down off the medication levels I was on safely.  I STOPPED TAKING THAT MEDICATION THE MINUTE I LEFT THAT ROOM.  The pain I dealt with from my injuries were now compounded exponentially by the withdrawals.  Thirty days later I met with the doctors again and he thought my wife and I were lying until he checked my blood.  To this day they don’t understand why I did not stroke or have a heart attack, so PLEASE don’t follow in my example.  One month later I under went four surgeries within two weeks to see if the doctors could stabilize by spinal column.

Walking: First I used a walker and forced myself to walk 100 feet, without a dry eye for even one step.  Then after a month I could walk to the end of my driveway and back and within 3 months I would walk 1/8 mile with the walker twice a day (crying, screaming, fighting for every step and every breath I took).

Now ten years later I have reached the point where I can walk on level ground short distances without aid.  With a cane further, and some days I am reduced to a walker or a bed as I deal with nerve damage that when it is inflamed causes me to collapse and unable to move my legs, however I know if I can Look Up and Will Get Up.

I tell you this because I believe you can too.  Your situation is different maybe worse and the feeling of helplessness, anger, frustration, disbelief, and humility is the same we all feel it.

The real question is “HOW CAN I…” find a way to break through.  Your Expectations – Determine – Experiences so do not limit your life.  Every day I can get up I do and you should too.

You see for the first 10 years of my life I did not really know my son, I have spent every minute getting to know my son over the past 10, and it was worth it.

Remember I got hurt at work right, it wasn’t my fault, I left out the part that the first thing they did when they found out I was injured they fired me.  So I also now had no income and huge medical expenses, Dr.s that were two states away from where I lived in the USA.  Still I thrive and so can you.

I stopped blaming others and took responsibility for my situation, please don’t misunderstand as I sit here in pain I still remember what happened and why, and could point the finger toward the person who took a shortcut that cost me.  Still I can’t be angry when I look at all I was given especially now when I spend each day with my Granddaughter, if you want to know Joy you must Expect it.

As for income I thrive and will in the future, I will explain how in the future posts or you can watch this video to see how you can create wealth from within you, Turning your Passion into Profit with VBS.
