Organizing Your Business

This blog is going to be about organizing your home business. I will use my personal experiences as a model to not follow. I made every typical mistake one can make when starting my Internet Marketing Career. Some of those mistakes still haunt me today.

When setting up your office, make sure you have plenty of room to work and try to keep your work space uncluttered. I know, keeping it uncluttered is a near impossibility, but trust me if your desk is clean things will go much smoother.

When you first sit down at your desk compile a to-do list and make sure you follow it until everything on the list is done. I was never a to-do list kind of guy and I would sit down in the morning or after work, check my email and see a new shiny product and spend hours researching the product to see if it was something I wanted. I almost felt like I was in Best Buy and a new electronic gadget had just come out. I always had a plan on what I had to do but none of it ever seemed to get done.

Try to stay away from all the shiny new products. There is no one button product that is going to make you a millionaire over night. I did not realize that when I first started. I bought so much stuff that I still do not know everything I am signed up for. I was literally a Home Business Product junkie. I couldn’t wait until my next fix. I spent a lot of money and never saw any returns. There was actually a time where I felt so overwhelmed I almost called it quits. Luckily I promised my wife that if I started an internet business I would not quit until I earned back the money I spent. Still working on that promise, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

If you are going to have multiple websites (and you should) keep all the passwords on an excel spreadsheet so you have easy access to them. Make sure you keep the Cpanel, and admin passwords so you don’t have to search them out every time you need them. I still have websites that I haven’t done anything with since I created them, guess I really need to check them out and get them optimized, but I forgot what their domain names are

So the one thing you need to get out of this blog is your home business is just that, a business. Treat it like a business. Make sure everything is organized and for petes sake stay away from bright shiny things, at least for now.

I would like to thank everyone who reads my blog, I am not the funniest guy out there, my boss says he enjoys my dry sense of humor. Dry? I though I was outright funny, oh well.
