Blogging has been around for years but it has only been recently that most people realize that there is a lot of money to be made from creating content and adding it to their blog. This blog post is going to outline the five steps involved in creating a successful blog. I will also touch on creating content, and how to blog well, meaning how to make sure your blog post is set up for search engine optimization (SEO). Most of the information contained within this blog post has come from Ray Higdon’s Pro blog academy course, which if you haven’t picked it up yet now is the time.
5 Steps To A Successful Blog
Identify Your Prospects
– This is definitely the first step in the blogging process. Who is it exactly that you are trying to reach. If you are in the home business opportunity then it could very well be kids going to college, or stay at home moms. With the home business opportunity you can pretty much market to anyone, however, I would try to narrow each article post down to a specific target prospect. For example, this post is for people that want to learn how to blog well.
Set Up Your Blog
– A successful blog has to have the right components so it is not sitting in nowhere land getting zero traffic. You need your blog creating a lot of traffic, and to do so it has to be set up properly. Assuming you already have your blog basically set up, you will need the plugins that will help maximize traffic while ensuring security. There are probably hundreds of plugins that are available to you, but you only need about 10 – 15 to make sure your blogs are safe and maximized for SEO. The next thing you want to do is provide your readers with a killer giveaway. This could be an E-book, some kind of training, or valuable information that helps your readers solve a specific problem. The idea here is to create value to your readers, and to separate yourself from the pack by branding yourself. Remember, we might think we are marketing a product, but what we are actually marketing is ourselves. Are we providing a reason for our reader to come back and read our material>
Creating Content
– This step is a lot easier than people think. Some examples of possible content could be something from past experiences, an idea from a recent book, or what did you take from the last webinar you attended. Content can come from almost anywhere that you look. If you are in a pinch and you have the dreaded writers block their are sites on the web that can be used for ideas. An example of a website you can use is http://www.43things.com/, but there are literally thousands, maybe even millions of places you could look for content. When writing content for blog remember you are trying to get that content ranked in the first couple of pages of Google. So make sure you do your keyword research, and remember there is nothing wrong with looking for low competition. Actually I would not even bother with the high competition keywords. Once your content is ranked then people will come to your website which is your ultimate goal. So for an example the first thing you would do is pick a broad topic, then do keyword research for that topic and then narrow down. Anything with a list is always good. Key point here is to provide value to your reader.
Drive Traffic To Your Blog
– ***This is important*** The number one way to drive traffic to your blog is consistency. If you want to learn how to blog well then practice everyday. It only takes a maximum of one hour a day. This is your business, isn’t one hour worth the traffic. If you have good quality blog posts then you will probably receive more traffic than with any other form of advertising. The best part is you might receive traffic for a blog post you wrote 6 months ago. Once you have written a successful blog post then post it to all of your social media sites, and post it to any of your bookmarking and backlinking sites. Check it out and see what I mean.
Cash The Check
– The final step, and I know you are sitting there smiling away and thinking how hard can cashing the check be? See now I have you thinking. Some would say they would throw a party or something like that, others would say pay bills. The point is that you need to have a plan for money that you didn’t expect. The one main thing I would focus on is to remember to reinvest back into your business, so you can keep the profits rolling in.
So there you have it the 5 steps to a successful blog I hope this post helped. The information here is a very small example of what Ray teaches in his Pro Blog Academy course. If you have the opportunity to listen or watch any of Rays training, definitely take advantage of it. You will definitely learn a lot.
