Are You Playing to Win or are you Playing Not to Lose?
This question is really worth thinking about because the distinction makes all the difference between success and mediocrity in your Life and in your Business. It really is a fairly small distinction and it is easy to fool yourself and convince yourself that you are playing to win. If you are avoiding fear or avoiding risk then you are playing not to lose rather than playing to win. As humans, we value and get used to life being mostly predictable, we value sameness, structure, stability and security. It is human nature to stay in our comfort zone. Playing to Win means getting outside of your comfort zone because you can’t get different results doing the same thing you have always done.
What are you willing to risk?
Another thing to ask yourself is “What do I have on the line?” When you have something “on the line”, you will step out of your comfort zone and do whatever it takes so you don’t lose what is “on the line.” Think about this: Aren’t you more motivated to not lose something you have than gain something you don’t have? Put yourself out there, tell everyone what you are going to do so it would be embarrassing and uncomfortable if you did not do it. Figure out a way to make it more painful to lose than it would to win.
Are You Thriving or Merely Surviving These Times?
I hear so many people say, “I just want to get through this tough economic time.” They are thinking about surviving. They can choose to think about thriving. Surviving is playing not to lose; setting the intention of thriving is playing to win. The difference between merely surviving and truly thriving is linked directly to whether we choose to play not to lose or play to win.
Playing to Win is so much more exciting than just Playing Not to Lose. It keeps you sharp and on your toes. You get to decide what winning means to you. It doesn’t always have to be something huge. Choose what your Win for the day will be then get out of your comfort zone and do it. When you become a daily winner in small things, before you know it you will be a Winner in the Game of Life!
Here are a few more tips on Playing to Win:

- Playing to Win is trying New things when the old things don’t work any more
- Playing to Win means making a Commitment to Yourself to Be a Winner
In the morning every day before I get out of bed I decide what my Win for that day will be. Before I go to bed at night, as I am brushing my teeth, I remember my Win, look myself in the eye and say, “You Are a Winner!!”
When you’re playing not to lose, the best you can do is not lose. There is no way to win.
When you’re playing to Win, there is no such thing as losing, you just keep playing.
Peace and Prosperity,
