When I started list building, years ago, I thought that I could just collect e-mail addresses, set up a series of messages in my autoresponder and just magically make money on auto pilot.  Then I realized something… HOLY CRAP, this doesn’t work!

If you are new to list building, perhaps you have experienced this same thing.  I know, it sucks… right?  Here’s what’s cool…

By following the three simple steps I’m sharing with you in this post today, you can set up your marketing system in such a way that people will fall in love with buying stuff from you.  In fact, if you do it right, they will actually feel obligated to buy from you!

Here’s how it works…

By following this simple flow chart you can see the process for converting subscribers to sign ups and sales.

What happens, most of the time, is people get the FLOW of a marketing system backwards.  They try to entice people with value first and make people take action based on the promise of value.

In other words, they want to receive first and then give.  This doesn’t work… it’s Universal Law, even Jesus taught it.

Giving and then receiving works when building an email list from scratch the same way it does in any other area of life.

What creates conversion is to GIVE BIG first, then call to action, in increments.

For example, once you know who your target audience is…

  • Use video and written content to give them a free solution to a problem first.  Then call them to the action of clicking a button or a link to get more free value that helps solve their problem.
  • Next… give massive value on a lead capture page (with video)… then call people to the action of subscribing.
  • Once they have subscribed, give them at least two more pieces of massive value that helps them solve their problem.

Now, when you call people to the action of buying something (that also contributes to the solution of their problem) they will be happy to buy from you because you gave them so much value up front.

  • Always give 10 times the amount of value up front than the price of your first solution with a price tag.
  • Come in at a low product price or low cost of entry to get things moving forward.
  • Give even more value after their first purchase.

By now, people will have made a decision as to whether or not they trust you.  If you did it right, you have earned their respect as a leader… people follow leaders, they do not follow followers.

Trust is earned by creating content that shows people how to get a result.  Don’t just share some meaningless random crap with them, give them real value from the heart that come from a place of genuine concern for their well being.  That’s what being in a creative business (as Wallace Wattles teaches in The Science of Getting Rich) is all about.

The best way to do this is to share something did, that produced a result and helped to solve the same problem.

By following the techniques I have outlined in this post, it will be much easier for you to start building an email list and actually get results from your efforts!
