My Hospital Day

My day started early as my husband and I have to travel to the Trail hospital. It snowed again last night another 4 inches so I had to go shovel snow first thing this morning. The roads were pretty good traveling. The beauty of the snow clinging to the tall fir trees were breath taking. My husband is having surgery on his rotator cuff. He tore it from his bicep so the surgeon may have to go fishing to find tendons and ligaments in order to sew things back together. As I see him lying on the cot waiting to go into surgery and the pain he has been experiencing will soon be gone. Any pain from here on will only be good pain, as it will be healing pain. I am looking at him resting as his surgery isn’t for another1/2 hour yet. He is having a little sleep and looks so at peace. The hospital surroundings are calm and peaceful and the staff is very nice.
I am now sitting here in the cafeteria and as I look up out the window the snow is falling lightly. I need to go and do some errands but I just don’t want to drive anywhere in this weather. It’s too far to go home so I will be here for about another 5-6 hours. It’s just about lunch time and the hospital staffs are wondering in and out of the cafeteria. The smells are lingering in the air and my stomach is starting to growl. As I look up I see even a couple of patients in their hospital gown wondering through. I giggle to myself as I think; the food in the cafeteria is the same as what the patients will be getting at their lunch meal. (I work in the hospital kitchen so I know). There is chitter chatter going on as people are having their lunch. It is music to my ears.
It has stopped snowing now so I think I will go and do those errands that need to get done. I am still leary of the road conditions but I will drive slowly.
