If you want to get anywhere you want in life, you have to take risks and be willing to face danger. A dream is never a dream if it doesn’t involve doing something challenging and taking risks.
Lord Halifax said,
“The man who leaves nothing to chance will do few things (badly), but he will do very few things.”
In order to be successful, you must take risks. You’ve got to dare for something to fulfill your hopes. There is no point sitting in a safety net and dreaming of being somewhere else. To actually fulfill your dreams you have to take action even if it means risking something. After all, if you don’t risk anything, you risk even more…
YOU RISK LOSING YOUR DREAM.
The most successful people in life have taken a risk, whether that risk has something to do with an internal conflict or an external challenge. Think about it, when you don’t take chances, you are missing a 100 % possibility of your dream coming true. If you take chances, you know that your dream has some chance, however slim, of coming true. I really like what John Stemmons has said regarding this:
“When your chances are slim and none… go with slim.”
Always keep that in mind. The potential for growth both internally and externally is tremendous if you take risks. Every stepping stone to success involves a chance and a challenge. And if you make a mistake, at least you learn from it. But if you never take a chance, you will never make mistakes and you will never learn.
The best way to move ahead is to stop thinking negatively about the steps you have to take. Be aware of the risks you are taking but don’t concentrate on them. Instead…
CONCENTRATE ON RESULTS.
Remember what David Mahoney said:
“Refuse to join the cautious crowd that plays not to lose. Play to win.”
I guarantee that every successful person you see has taken a risk.
