Poh Lin Cheng

A director she admired kept pushing through every signal her body sent her, and then one morning told the office she had a brain tumour. Poh Lin Cheng uses that to ask what it actually takes before somebody changes direction, and the answer she keeps meeting is a crisis.

She writes honestly about her own stretch of persistence, several years of struggle after leaving an office job, and about the moment it turned, without pretending the middle part was inspiring.

The post on accepting people is the most useful. She admits she used to try to improve the people around her into what she thought they should be, and describes the realisation that you can like somebody and still choose not to be close to them.

The travel posts cover Toronto, Malaysia, Western Australia and practical preparation for the United States.

Read the acceptance post if somebody close to you is not changing and you keep pushing.
