Thoughts about the New Job

Ever since I began working at this company, I am beginning to wonder if I made a bad decision about coming to work here. I had a very good job at a different company, one that was owned by my grandmother, I was a general all around person.
I was a cashier, secretary, and housekeeper all in one. It was a small grocery store/Laundromat/motel/rv park. Everything was good there, I was earning a good salary; had a flexible schedule, and some free time during the work hours to focus on what I should do next. Thought he one problem that I had with working there was that sometimes in the evenings I had way to much free time to do whatever I felt like and I had already done all that was needed to do to get done. So I often spend lots of time writing music, as I talked about in a previous blog, and stories. My mind is constantly running around with different ideas, which normally I can’t place them on paper fast enough and they disappear quickly. ‘One ear out the other as some people say.’
I’ve been working at my grandmothers for every summer for the past 6 years so this is the first time I’ve changed careers from a Cashier to an Administrative Assistant. So far it has been quite exciting. I have learned many different things which may seem very self-explanatory like sending faxes and scanning documents but I hadn’t done that before so it was interesting to learn.
From the time I started to by the end of 2012 I had learned a lot of things like how to fax, scan, email, edit, and administer tests for Pearson Vue. Stuff I never thought I would be doing after my work as a cashier in Hope. Now though I get the feeling from most of the co-workers that I’m not welcome here and they want me to leave since they keep piling tons of work on me and expect me to leave at 2pm exactly but with the stuff that they give me I can’t exactly finish it all by 2. I need a few extra hours in order to get all the work done. Oh, well that’s the problem with having connections in the working industry. That’s one of the main reasons why I have this job, you see the owner of the company that I work for right now, is actually my Uncle.
Yes, I use my connections very well and that’s why I got this job so I’m luckier than most people today, but I have to say our society has become quite lazy recently. We expect the government to give us handouts for food, clothing, and housing which, in my opinion, is quite wrong. America use to be a country that was able to stand on its own two feet and take care of itself but now… America cannot even take care of itself. Its life expectancy is as long as the other countries continue to export products such a pitiful existence. Pardon me but I’m just upset. I know that I’m from a younger generation who expects everything but I’m one of those who think that the government shouldn’t bail everyone out.
Okay, that was really off topic so yeah. I’m not sure that working with my current company is going to work out so yeah, we shall see by the August of 2013 if I’m still here.
