The Time Is Now!

It is incredible how many people hold off on doing the thing they really want to do, now! I read about a survey taken amongst old age pensioners. One of the most common regrets that came up amongst these OAPs was: Many of them wished they had taken more risks. When I read this, it reallly challenged me.
I have big dreams and there are things I want to achieve in my life that are seemingly beyond my current capacity to achieve. There are things that I want to do which will cost me in money and time. They will require me to take risks. I have a choice, because I can either settle for mediocrity and safety now, hold back on spending or investing the required money and time, or I can courageously step out and give it a darn good shot with all I have.
When I read about that OAP survey, it shook me to the core and I knew from that day, that I would never be that old man sitting in a retirement home wishing I had taken more risks in my life. So I started stepping out. I started doing things that even my close friends thought was risky and questionable. Things like investing on an online business.
The thing is, when you step out in this manner, you not only have to count the cost of your money and time, but also the social cost. You have to count on those people around you who will constantly question you and criticise you for your unwise and unsafe choices. They will analyse where you are at and make bold assumptions about your dreams based on who they know you to be now and not who you will become on the journey to pursuing your dreams.
One of my favourite quotes is from a man called Edwin Louis Cole. He said, ‘Never let anyone create your world for you, they will always make it too small.’ I have experienced that time and time again in my personal journey. People who want to limit you to their limited mindset and experience. But I refuse to let those voices be the dominant ones in my life.
The time is now! It has to be. If you have a dream, start pursuing it today. If you have dreams and goals and things you want to achieve, take action now.
I mentor a few young guys, and there are common things I notice when they start to talk about dreams and things they want to achieve. They often talk about their dreams in an airy fairy way that makes it feel like, this is something they will do in a few years time. So my question is always, ‘When will you start?’ Or, ‘What action are you taking towards those dreams now?’

Pretty straightforward really. Take action! Start now! If I had a pound for every time someone shared their amazing dream with me and had no intention of starting any time soon, I would have a great additional second income stream working for me.
So what is it you’re dreaming to do? I don’t care about how old you are, or how much or little money you have, or any of the other poor excuses you may throw at me. My message to you today would be, very simply: ‘The time is now!’ The thing is even if you think, it is too late to start now, wouldn’t it be better to die, knowing your journey was one of pursuing a dream rather than dying with regret that you never even dared to attempt it.
I’ll say it one more time: The time is now!
