Here is an article that is not only going to help marketers but also all the good people who want to make an extra buck on the internet. If you want to rank on Google you need to understand how it works. And who better to ask then… Google? 🙂
I’m gona go in depth with some of the ideas shared here, because I think I would be helpful to all who are new in our marketing space.
Contrary to what many think Google does not search the whole web. It only searches among the pages which it have indexed
Natural indexation happens through pages which are already indexed and which have links towards other sites. Google is going to follow those links and index them. And repeat that process over and over again… This is one of the reasons why it is very important to publish your content on well known and ranked sites
Indexation is important and if you don’t want to wait for Google to index your new born content you may index it by using a free online solution.
Now if you have a lot of links to index you would be better off with a software. Contact me and I will tell you which one I’m currently using. I’m not telling it here because I’m always looking for a way to do it better. Can you say perfectionist ? 😉
Google will find out if your web page corresponds to the search by asking more than two hundred questions, such as:
How many times does it have the required keyword?
Don’t forget that spamming keywords won’t do it and you may be downgraded or even blacklisted. Usually it’s a keyword or a key phrase per paragraph.
Is your keyword in the url?
This is pretty easy for us to do with our EN blogs because when we create a new blog (we can have up to 10 which we all manage from the same back office) you are asked which word suits best our blog and this word will appear in the url. So be strategic and chose smartly 🙂
Is there any synonyms to the Keywords we are looking for?
Once again use with caution, don’t overdo it. Search engines are now equipped to know if your are putting words just for the sake of putting words. For those who are starting now and want to have a better rank there is a golden rule:
Is your website a quality website?
Everyone says it. You need to have quality content. How do you know if you have quality content? Put yourself in the shoes of the reader. Would you like to read the article you are writing? Always ask yourself those question: who is this article for, website, blog? This will allow you to have a different approach and give more value. Position yourself as a great marketer or blogger by always wowing your visitors.
Does it inspire trust?
Usually a blog inspires trust if there is any kind of interaction on it. If people are leaving some comments: ANSWER THEM! Google love to see that you are engaging with your visitors. And when you engage there is a bigger chance that people would share your content on social media sites.
What is your ranking?
Ranking is determined by how many links are linking back to the site and how many of those links are quality links. Those links are therefore very important and play a major role! But… Yeah there is a but, once again please don’t overdo it. Google will analyze those external links and see if they are all coming from the same I.P. address. Be as stealthy as ninjas 😉
