In ‘The Law of Success’ Napoleon Hill writes that:

‘You will need the co-operation of others if you aim to attain success of a far-reaching nature, but you will never get that co-operation unless you vitalize your mind with the positive attitude of Self-confidence.’

He goes on to say: ‘Select any two people, study them, and the reason why one advances and the other stands still will be quite obvious to you. You will find that the one who advances believes in himself.’

‘You will find that he backs this belief with such dynamic, aggressive action that he lets others know that he believes in himself. You will also notice that this Self-confidence is contagious; it is impelling; it is persuasive; it attracts others.’

Where do you get ‘Self-confidence’ other than from family, friends, job or a motivational speaker? Or is it that you pick up bits and pieces that you agree on to fit the Self-confidence list that you want.

So rather than pick a motivational speaker or some comedian you like and mirror their personality, you take ‘bits and pieces’ that you like from different people you’ve heard and then develop your personality, your self-confidence.

………………………………………………………………………..

You could also have been taught at a very young age how to be ‘self-confident’ and held on to that belief. If you were in the military you could have taken on their set of beliefs.

I have tried to be 100% like other people and it does not work for me. Maybe you also have tried it. I think what works is applying what someone says, testing it with yourself being the experiment and if it is a success for you or it does you good for the reason you wanted, then keep it.

For example you read this quote:

I have Many Problems in My Life. But My lips don’t know that — They always Smile.” ~Charlie Chaplin

Okay, so then you smile for a time. The quote keeps you smiling for a few days, then what, find another smile quote like this one:

Smile, it’s free therapy.” ~Douglas Horton

You still need more time smiling so you find another quote like this one:

A smile is happiness you’ll find right under your nose.” ~Tom Wilson

And you run through those quotes and find another one:

I was so embarrassed about mispronouncing words. I just knew how to smile.” ~Adriana Lima

Then you get persistent and take it on. You are rolling along and believe that ‘smile quotes’ from different people motivate you to smile and have a positive attitude.

You’ve read a book explaining the positive effects of smiling and always have a different ‘smile quote’ for you to read and give to others. I like it!

Here’s one more:

I have witnessed the softening of the hardest of hearts by a simple smile.” ~Goldie Hawn

It is contagious! Smile!
