How To Properly Stay Fit When You Are Pregnant

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

Pregnancy is not only exciting, but also scary. Your body is set to go through changes unlike anything else you will ever experience. Similar changes are to be expected in your entire life. But, there are many things that can be done to help out both pregnant women and their partners. Several of them follow below.

Nursery decoration is a ton of fun! Just be aware you are pregnant! You cannot be around paint fumes. If you are going to paint, open your windows to ensure that the room is properly ventilated. Friends and family can be useful to help you with the labor involved in renovation.

TIP! Pretend you’re pregnant pre-conception. Quit cigarettes, become a teetotaler, exercise regularly and just try to be healthy.

Be careful when you travel if you are pregnant. You want to be near a medical facility. You do not want to stray to far from a doctor in case any emergency or complications should arise. Always have a cell phone with you no matter where you go.

Take care of a loved one’s baby for a few hours or an entire day. This is a great opportunity to find out what it is like to take care of a baby. This experience will help you handle your own baby with greater confidence and ease.

Leg Cramps

TIP! One way to reduce pregnancy-related stress is to prioritize tasks with a list and do only those tasks that need immediate attention. Use your family and friends as a resource to help you finish important items on the list.

During pregnancy, you may encounter painful leg cramps during the night. The first thing you should do if you experience leg cramps is increase your daily water intake if it is low. Also, try doing some leg stretches prior to going to bed. Bananas are another trick that can help.

When pregnant, air travel is best from your 14th to your 28th weeks. During this time, you will find that you don’t feel as sick as you did when you were in your first trimester and you don’t have to worry about an early delivery either. Remember to stay hydrated and walk as much as possible when traveling. Also, try to have a seat where you’re in the aisle so you can get to the restroom more easily.

Since your bladder capacity is reduced during pregnancy, reduce how much you drink in the evenings so you’ll sleep better. Keep up your water intake before dinner, but lay off the water once you eat, and don’t drink any right before you go to sleep. If you do this, you should cut out the number of times you need to run to the bathroom during the night.

TIP! Do you have a baby on board? Considering breastfeeding? Will you be feeding in public and want to be discreet? Nursing clothing can help you! There are stores and companies that specialize in discreet, comfortable and fashionable nursing wear. People won’t be able to see what is going on.

To ensure the best nutrients for the baby and you, adjust your eating habits. Fast food, caffeinated colas and sugary snacks are not appropriate staples during your pregnancy. Eat produce, lean protein and high-fiber carbohydrates instead.

If you are out in the sun, make sure that you are wearing sunscreen, even if you have a dark skin tone and didn’t use it before pregnancy. Tanning beds should be a no-go while pregnant. Your skin is quite sensitive during pregnancy, so your chances of sunburn are increased. Check the label of your sunscreen and other skin care products to make sure it does not contain harmful chemicals.

Nine Months

TIP! Women who are expecting should ensure that they protect themselves from over-exposure to the sun. Skin can become sensitive and rough when pregnant, so take care of it accordingly.

Just remember, pregnancy eventually ends. Pregnancy only last nine months. Being aware of some great tips on pregnancy can help you get through those brutal nine months.
