Once Upon a time there was an old poor man named Dave who lived in a small hut in a village. After the death of his wife he was staying alone as he had no children. Though Dave was old, he was healthy and strong. He was always busy in helping neighbors in one way or another and in return they gave him food.
As he was polite and humble, everybody liked him, and nobody refused him anything. He liked him and nobody refused him anything. He liked children very much and whenever he was free, he used to tell stories to children. So he was very popular with the children and they used to call him “Granpa” one day as he was getting older in his hut, he stated thinking in his mind.
“Day by day am getting older and older and within a short time I shall die. After death of my wife, the people of this village have been helping me a lot by giving me free food. In return, I must so something good for them so that the people of this village can remember me after my death.
After sometime Dave, started nodding his head with a smile on his face. He stated murmuring” it’s wonderful, it’s wonderful I must do it” the following day he said to all the children. “Whenever you eat and fruits please do not throw away the seeds but bring them to me.
Within a few days the children had brought seeds of mangoes, paw paws, oranges, plums, peaches, lemons and many other fruits. After drying them in the sun for few weeks, he planted all the seeds near his hut and asked the children to help him making a fence around so that they could not be spoiled by anybody. Every day he watered them regularly and within a few days, the soil was covered with small seedlings of different fruits. Then he waited for the long rains.
When the long rains finally came he became very happy and started planting the seedlings at a distance of about two hundred meters on both sides of a road leading to the town. The children helped him in planting and fencing the seedlings. Within a week, they finished the work of planting the seedlings on the whole road for one year he looked after these plants properly.
After two or three rainy seasons people were happy to see different types of fruit trees growing on both sides of the road. After a few years the trees were covered with fruits. However Dave did not live to see the fruits on the trees.
Everyone you and old, rich and poor who traveled on the road stopped to take a rest under the shade of trees and to eat some fruits from the trees. While eating the fruits they praised Dave for his noble work. Dave was no more but the trees were there to tell the travelers about the noble work of Dave. In this way Dave become immortal! The same goes to Steve Jobs if you happens to know in not he was Apple Co-founder and CEO for a very long time! His vision were no different like that of Dave and that is “to something good for the people”
