Getting the shit scared out of you!!
Deep down we all love getting scared to the point where we jump out of our pants. The adreniline rush and the chills taht come over our body fill us with excitmeent and fear all at the same time.
Who is the king of putting the fear into our minds?…
Wes Craven!! This guy is amazing and who knows what is really going on in his head. He has come up with some of the scariest most iconic images ever brought to the big screen and to the masses.
What’s your favorite scary movie?
Scream brought a new demesion to fear and horror and the mask is still the top seller for Halloween masks today.
Scream almost didn’t happen…
Wes Craven wasn’t even going to do it at first. But once he committed nothing was going to stop him from scaring the world.
There were so many obsticles and hurdles he had ot jump through…
Drew Barrymore wanted to badly be apart of the movie, but she through a curve ball at Wes when she decided to be switched out of the lead role of Sydney Prescot to be the first vicitim of “Ghostface”
Choosing a location to shoot was anther battle. First the prodcution was to be set out of the states to save a million, but Wes said it wouldn’t do. Then when they found a suitable location at a high school in wine coutry california the school board decided to ban the movie from taking place because of the violecen. And it had come right after a 12 year old girl was kidnapped and murdered in the area.
The last hurdle was the ratings board… initally the film was rated at NC-17 which would have made it a flop in the feature presentation world. How could they get it to R and let the world see his masterpiece. After battleing and batttleing they eneded up calling it a comedy and the review board took away the NC-17 and made the film what it is today.
Ghostface’s voice was the scariest part and was done by Roger Jackson. Wes had an incredible idea. He would never allow the actors to see Roger because he wanted to show genuiine fear. And because they never saw him their imaginations ran wild.

This allowed the actors to have real fear as they were on the phone with a man watching them.
I just got the chills thinking about it…
Scream is one of my all time favorite scary movies that challenged an era, broke the rules, and created a masterpiece.
