Craigslist Ad Posting Tips

So your looking for some craigslist ad posting tips?

Well you have come to the right place.

One of the best places to advertise is Craigslist, however be warned if you intend to use Craigslist to promote your business it is not easy to post your ads.

Craigslist Ad Posting Tips:
Getting Started

 Phone Numbers:

Craigslist will ask for phone verification.  It used to be you could use free services like K7 but Craigslist has evolved and now can detect these types of numbers.

There are a number of paid services that create numbers that will verify.  I would advise against you using your own phone number unless you are only placing a single ad. This is one of the very important craigslist ad posting tips.

Email:

It is recommended that you create several email accounts if you are going to be placing multiple ads and that you should use gmail for those accounts.  Create one for each phone number.

Your IP:

Craigslist tracks IP’s so if you are going to be using multiple ads, phone numbers and emails then you need to mask your IP.   There are several programs that do this but probably the most well known is HideMyAss

Craigslist Ad Posting Tips: Alert!

Please keep in mind if you do hide your IP when setting up a new campaign on Craigslist that you put in the city that the IP comes from.

This will red flag that the city you entered doesnt match the IP it came from.

Your Ads:

Now its time to setup your ads.  Do not post the exact same ad twice, this includes your headline.  Duplicate posts are not permitted on Craigslist.

Best thing to do is write out or create 10 ads then make 10 variations of those ads.  This will result in 100 different ads.

Things to Remember

How Many Ads You Can Post:

This is a topic for debate, but unless you are using auto posting software and are changing your IP address regularly (perhaphs every 3-5 ads) you should only post 3 ads every 48 hrs from one Craigslist account.

Don’t These Look Yummy

Clearing Your Internet History, Cookies & Temporary Passwords

When you active or log into your Craigslist account the site places cookies on your computer.

You must clear these after finishing with each account.  Depending on the browser you are using this is done in a variety of different ways.  Just simply YouTube how this is done.

URL Shorteners:

Don’t use the popular ones like, viralurl, tinyurl, yatu etc… Try and find some not well known ones.

Buying Domain Names:

For as little as a couple of dollar’s you can purchase a domain name. Set your domain up so that it frame redirects to another destination like your lead capture page for example.

How To Have Your URL Temporarily White-listed

  • Pay for a ad in one of the cities where Craigslist is charging per post.
  • Then you have a URL that is listed as safe on the Craigslist system at least for the period that your payment covers.
  • Using this domain, create multiple sub-domains to use for your bulk posting submissions.
