Ditch The Salespitch!

How can you be in an affiliate marketing business without being a salesperson?
People are smart when it comes to “sales pages” and hate being tricked into clicking on one.
I hate it when someone tries to sell me something and not many people are any different. People love to buy stuff but hate being sold!
When you send people straight to a sales page and tell them how your product is going to change their life, they become defensive and instantly don’t like you.
What Your Salespage Does To People
For the fun of it, we’ll use me as an example. I am a promoter for ViSalus. I’m not even going to highlight ViSalus in this blog because it’s not my focus here. But I want a good example to use.
So Jane Doe has seen my ad telling her about how great my product is and is going to help her lose the stubborn belly fat that she’s been trying to get off for months. She clicks the link and it immediately sends her to my sales page.
Get this though, Jane already knows I’m trying to sell her something. So Jane is already in defense mode! She knows that companies will pay other people to say anything to sell a product, pictures can be edited etc. Basically she knows that I will say anything to get her to buy my product even though deep down she’s hoping and wanting for it to be true.
So she frantically looks at the before and after photos for evidence that they’ve been doctored and when she finds any sort of evidence, (a freckle was by her belly button in the before but not on the after) she agrees that it is a scam and leaves the page.
But she still has the belly fat!
What Your Blog Link Does for People
So the next day Jane Doe comes across an article called “7 Ways To A Healthier You!” This is exactly what Jane has been looking for. So she clicks on the link and comes to my blog with my unprofessionally taken photo (yep, I’m talking about the one right up there) and she instantly knows that I’m wanting to share information. (Please read “I Am NOT A Salesperson).
She then reads through my blog and finds what? Exactly what she was looking for. “7 Steps To a Healthier You!”
- Stay Hydrated
- Eat Protein
- Eat Fruits and Veggies
- Try Avoiding The Color Beige
- Get Plenty of Sleep
- Portion Control
- Exercise
Then I say you can get these shakes by visiting this site (insert my link).
Jane has then received this information from a peer and NOT a company and received information rather a sales pitch! Now Jane is happy for the invite to the website and not annoyed by sales tactics.
What if Jane doesn’t buy my product? It’s ok! She got useful information from me and will return to my blog again and again.

Blog options
A free blog is really hard to get either social or SEO traffic to, and people tend to view you as someone that doesn’t really know what they’re talking about.
A self-hosted blog works really good, however, you do have to expect that it will take time to build up a large audience. You can build multiple income streams with banner ads and such.
I skipped the self hosted blog and went straight to…..
A blog (the one you are on now) that had a built in secondary income stream that is already high-authority and is socially optimized.
Ok, I know I know! That’s kind of a confusing way of saying, I took the easy option.
All I did was upload my picture, and started blogging!
