Turkeys Chickens And Eagles

There’s a short story about leadership that I want to share with you tonight. In business (and in life!) there are 3 kinds of people.
Turkeys chickens and eagles.
Turkeys are people who you run into all the time who you hear saying things like “oh thats a scam” and “I had a friend that did that, it doesn’t work” (gobble gobble) and “Only a couple of people make it to the top” (gobble gobble) or “I tried doin that and gettin all kind of people in and it just doesn’t work” (gobble gobble)
Sound familiar?
Of course it does because turkeys are everywhere. You’re definitely gonna encounter them on a daily basis if you’re really commited to your business! There’s nothing you or I or anyone else can do about these turkeys.
Well, there is one thing that we can must do as leaders in our life and businesses about these personality types because quite frankly you wanna avoid the negatives in your life as much as possible.
So what do you do?
…Just forget about em. SIMPLE. Just forget about em 
Its not what happens in life, it’s how you respond to what happens in life that matters.
So remember when they talk that talk they not rejecting you personally, they’re just rejecting the opportunity in their life. I have an acronym that I like to refer to whenever I run into that. I call it the P.O.O.R. mentality(Passing On Opportunities Repeatedly)
Keep that in mind and forget the turkeys!
Ok, so the next group of people are going to be a large part of your team and/or organization. They’re called the chickens.
Now, chickens dont do much except for just poke around a lot and cluck and eat. You know, lots of clucking LOL.
At the end of the day, chickens put food on your table. Remember that, because remember I said your organization is gonna be mostly comprised of chickens. If you try to work with a chicken though, heres the problem that I see most people encounter in their business as it relates to how to interact with the different personalities and where to spend their time. People are wasting their time thinking that they’re investing it wisely working with chickens!
In other words, they pick up a chicken and say “fly chicken fly” not realizing or stopping to really comprehend that chickens JUST DONT fly! They just don’t! Thats why the result is always the same- chickens cluck. And then it just falls to ground….
And truthfully, if you keep trying this after a while the chicken might just shit on you
So, in summary of the chickens, dont try to turn one into something its not. Bottom line. A chicken is a chicken is a chicken.
…But the point is; how do you deal with a chicken? What do you do with most of your organization? Well, there are 4 words that come to mind:
Love them, they’ll grow
Treat them with the love and respect they deserve because you never know. They could grow…and develop…and change.
Because the last group is the EAGLES!
Eagles is rare. They are the the people that join you in business and they are constantly asking questions with respect to how do I build my business, how do I make this happen, what are the income producing activities that I need to do?
You may have heard this term before, however, im gonna toss it out here anyway
The cream always rises to the top
So you don’t have to try to throw chickens in the air to make em fly. The eagles make themselves known.
And again, they are rare! so dont bring in ten people into your organization and expect to have 5 eagles. I would say from my experience its more like 1 out of every 10 people will be an eagle. And so those are the people that the leaders like you and me spend our time with.
Why?
Becausre they’re worthy. Because they buy all of the products that the company offers. They attend all of the functions. They stay plugged into the system. They, again, are constantly asking the questions AND take massive action(unlike chickens, which also ask questions).
Because they understand they’re gonna make mistakes and that when they make mistakes they need to learn from those mistakes and they have to press on and move onward from them. Eagles are constantly talking about what they would love to accomplish and more importantly, why they want to accomplish it.
Eagles are rare!
So then it comes a time that the organization starts to really grow then you start to wonder who to invest your time with; and you wanna invest it with everyone. I know I did, and I had an issue with constantly trying to throw chickens up in the air! And it just didnt work! Ha ha.
Bottom line the eagles are the people you work with because its worth it. And if it takes bringing in 5 or 10 people in before you can work with one then so be it. You deserve to have eagles in your organization.
The philosophy of this story is simple. In dealing with people you want to work with the eagles, love the chickens and forget the turkeys.
