Mukluk Maintenance: Cleaning Them Properly

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

If you’ve got a pair of mukluks, you already know just how pleasant they can be on the old footies. If you need to keep your toes from freezing but don’t want to put on layers and layers of socks, they can not be topped. That kind of rhymed didn’t it? Yet back to business. Exactly what do you do if they get a bit soiled from all that lounging around you’re bound to do in them?

Before merely chucking them in the washer machine, look over your slippers’ tags first. Typically, they’re going to advise you to stick with cool water when you wash them. If you didn’t already know, hot water is known to shrink clothing items that weren’t designed to be washed in it. You also need to focus on the cycle you put your machine on (if indeed your tags say that machine washing is appropriate). Having it set wrong could ruin the mukluk slippers.

If your slippers ought to be dry-cleaned only, then that’s probably the easiest way. But you may also choose to your women’s moccasins by hand, too. Don’t use powdered soap when you do this either because it just doesn’t work well in this situation. Softly wipe them off with the wash rag, staying careful not to scrub too much. You don’t want to run the fabric.
Be mindful of exactly where you choose to put them when it’s time to dry. It shouldn’t be somewhere that’s cold and wet. So it is preferable for you to steer clear of the attic. Rather, you could hang them in your bath room. An additional tip is placing just a little baking soda on the slippers. Baking soda is great for unpleasant odors. The process of drying is going to be sped up as well.

At this point you are a lot more knowledgeable in washing mukluk slippers. Simply focus on the label. Select the things it suggests instead of this in the event they be contradicting. As they created it it is best to listen to them instead. So if you’re looking for more information, don’t forget to check out the Mukluk Slippers blog!
