I’m not going to be able to teach you video editing in this blog….that’s not the purpose of it.

I’m studying Brenda’s Craigslist Course and all the different facets to get a marketable ad up on Craigslist. She stresses that doing a personal video….is paramount… without one – don’t bother.

I’ve used my Flipcam for videos and even edited a couple takes that were supposed to be on my website. The website didn’t really work out…still have the clips… I also have a smallish Sony video cam that does both video and stills. I have so much on it the media card I put in it says I have about 20 minutes left. Yikes.

Even though I’ve just moved…(I’ll be saying that for 6 months – you watch)….I have found the instruction and disc to download onto my laptop. There’s well over years worth of shots…. mostly from the events I’ve gone to. I try to only video (it’s not generally allowed at the events) the intros of the various speakers. That’s what I have to edit. I am sketching out more details for my personal blog…and I do want to add an Event Tab.

Anyway, I got up on my Global Training Site and was going thru what I needed to either brush up on or really study. Ran across Debbie Turner’s (do you now Debbie? – you need to make an effort to meet her)….Windows Movie Maker Video Editing!

There were 5 different videos – mostly about 3-4 minutes in length. Debbie’s trainings are always so direct. She breaks everything down to simple step by step….even shows when she screws up ’cause she knows that we will too.

Part 1 “How to Import your Video, Pictures and Music”
Once you see how it’s done…it’s simple. You just go to the different parts of your computer for My Video, My Pictures, My Music….select the one you want and click ‘Import’ duh!… Once you see it done – you can do it.

Part 2 “How to Use Video Effects”
That’s all. Just the screen that had the different choices…and as she tried different ones…showing us where to click to add them and how to find them again and ‘cut’ them. I have to say she was having way too much fun with these effects…giggling, ya know. However, the different effects has my mind spinning already.

Part 3 “How to Use Transition Feature”
This was interesting. She had some photos behind her title and ahead of her video. She showed how they would look without transitions…then showed up click by click how to and where to add them. She actually added a different one between each one to show us how they looked in use. She also showed us how to overlap photos that ended up as one photo fading into another. I’ve seen it, but had no idea how to do it!

Part 4 “How to Make Titles and Credits”
WOW. This was the most fun. Now I know how those various word effects are done. But besides having fun with the various styles….once again…click by click…she took up thru the typing of the title and later the credit – then the color of the font – the location on the page – the size of the font…then where to place it in the video line….

Part 5 “How to Edit and Split Your Video Footage for a Clean Presentation, Adjust Your Volume and Save Your Projects”
A Long title for quick little edits. Since a lot of us are by ourselves…we have to start and stop our camera. She showed how to find the place to cut, how to cut, and how to delete that cut – both front and back of the video. Then if we wanted music as background in our video..there is a place to put the link and a way to adjust the volume so it does not drown out your message!

The final, most important video editing point she made…actually before she started and at the end. When you are done or have to quit for the day….save your video to SAVE YOUR PRODUCT AS folder in your computer. The only time to select the ‘save to my computer’ option is when you are ready to publish the video on YouTube or some other hosted site.
