Crackers or Midnight Buffet?

Crackers or Midnight Buffet?

Crackers or midnight buffet? Well here’s the story:

A man took a ship across the Atlantic to emigrate to America. He was being careful with his money, so he brought enough crackers to last the length of the journey. Every day, he watched other passengers enter a fancy dining room where they were treated to anything that their hearts desired while he had his meal of crackers.

On the last day, one of the ship’s crew saw him eating crackers outside the dining room and asked him why he didn’t go in for dinner. The man explained that he was watching his money and brought crackers so he wouldn’t have to worry about paying for a meal. Imagine the man’s shock when the crew member explained to him that meals were included in the price of his passage!

Crackers or Midnight Buffet: A Metaphor For Life

As a Christian, I believe that God designed a huge life for me and for all of His children. A life filled with abundance and joy. But so many of us, myself included, often choose crackers instead of the midnight buffet.

You’ve seen those midnight buffets on cruise ships…right? The ones where people line up just to take photos of it and then chow down for hours.Even if you aren’t a believer, ask yourself if your choices are resulting in crackers or the midnight buffet.

Choosing the Midnight Buffet Over Crackers

It all comes down to choices. Do you want to have the abundant life that God has designed for you? Or are you willing to settle for um…crackers? Are you willing to do what it takes to have a huge life filled with joy? Yes, it takes some discipline, obedience and sacrifice but is it worth it? You bet!
