Celebrating 100 Blog Posts!

This past week, I published my 100th blog post. I post daily except for an occasional Sunday. I have learned a lot about blogging after 100 posts and would like to share some of what I have learned.

First of all, a disclaimer. My mother was an English teacher and I am very good at spelling and grammar. I am a right-brained musician and songwriter, so the creative part of writing blog posts comes easily to me. But there is a difference between normal writing and writing blog posts and I had to learn just like everybody else.

Learning to Write Blog Posts

I learned much of what I know about writing blog posts from my mentor, Susan Beesley, who is a very successful internet marketer and a blogging whiz. Because I am a member of the Empower Network Ten Ten Formula Training, I have access to training webinars that teach us everything from blogging to marketing on Facebook.

I also use a WordPress plug in called “SEOPressor,” which gives me a basic score and shows me how to improve my blog posts for search engine optimization. In fact I am using it as a write this post. This tool has taught me much about the format of blog posts.

Writing Effective Blog Posts

Here are a couple of tips for writing good blog posts:

• Choose an attention getting title.

• Use at least 3 headings each of which contain your keywords.

• Add images to break up the post visually.

• If you have trouble writing your own blog posts, you can find content written by others and comment on it. Always make sure that you give credit to your source.
