World War Z. Zombies are coming back once again.

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

I like sci-fi. I do not like horror movie. I like dramas and I love battles.

The new movie,  World War Z, is the mix of many genres. And it is watchable.

I’ve read in papers the role of the main character in World War Z, Garry,  was written for Brad Pitt.  And it seems to be true.

Gerry (Brad Pitt) an retired  ex-UN employee enjoys a family life. Garry, his beautiful wife and two kids sit in a car and have a great time.

However, the inferno of Zombies breaks out, Garry must protect his family. He and his wife with two kids find a place where they can hide from zombies.

The zombies are all around  and they attack people  fast and fiercely.  After just a couples of seconds the same people become zombies too. They are attracted by the loud sounds and it is easy  for them to find their prey.

Especially in big cities.

People scream  around and are  very easy prey to zombies who are moving as an avalanche down the big avenues to attack shocked  and frenzied people.

There is almost no escape possible as the alive corpses  smash their heads against the car front glass. Scared passengers, locked in their cars, scream around and have no  escape routes.

Garry manages to escape with his family. He is the one that army contacts to help to fight the war against the zombies.  The army saves the family from the roof of a building and flies  them to the battleship. One the the few places where  people are save.

But Garry’s mission is not over. As an UN-specialist, he is asked to find the place of outbreak of the epidemic disease  and find the vaccine against this brutal nature’s whim.

On his odyssey he stops in Jerusalem, where a big wall is build to protect preying people from unstoppable zombies  attacking the walls. The zombies get over the wall. They climb each other like ants  and so they overcome the concrete wall and they start  rolling over the top of the wall falling into the protected area.

Garry is there too. He must get away. And he succeeds. As he and Segen (Daniella Kertesz) -Israeli soldier  – fight their way through the streets of Jerusalem, Garry spots a bald headed boy.

The zombies do not attack this boy. They pass by as if he was not there at all. They merely brush his clothes.

And  here we know  lies the secret weapon that can be used against zombies.

We do not see a lot of blood in the movie. But the danger, the suspense and the fear is present  and almost  touchable.

The zombies are pure animal monsters with only one aim: to infect people and move fast to the next victim.

The pace of the story is well balanced and the action scenes and zombies attacks are present through out the whole film. However not always shown.

There might lie the recipe for a good zombie horror movie.

The fear, savage and cruelty is felt but not explicitly shown and seen.

It is in the heads of the viewers.

And as contrarian as it sounds  this makes this movie a fairly good one.

Cheers,

Maroschief.

P.S.: Do you look for an escape to freedom and prosperity?
