With a storm nearly 1000 miles wide it is bound to cause severe damage and hurricane sandy did just that! She wreaked havoc on the east coast like no other.Hurricane sandy is probably going to be the most costly natural disaster in history. She flooded the streets of new york,rhode island,maine,new jersey,conneticut,n.carolina,and the list goes on and on.Estimated cost of loss at this point in the 10′s of billions if not the 100′s of billions and possibly more! Over 14,000 flights delayed thru out the U.S. and counting. Trains delayed for days if not weeks,new york subways flooded causing massive transportation headaches and leaving 1000′s unable to get around.Franken storm has reared its ugly head for halloween.Storm of the Century Hurricane Sandy is her name!

Devastation and destruction!

The devastation and destruction from hurricane sandy even closed the New York stock exchange for more than 1 day something that has not happened since 1888 over 200 years ago! Over one million people are with out power leaving people with out heat or light possibly for weeks.Major highways are flooded leaving them looking like rivers running thru out the city of New York and other major cities. Winds of 100 miles an hour are gusting across major bridges making it impossible to cross into safer areas of major cities.Cars are floating down major streets something you only see on the gulf coast like in Florida And Louisiana after major hurricanes slam into those states and now hurricane sandy is causing those same problems in an area where its almost unheard of.

So far the death toll is minimal but once they start cleaning up and the phone lines are working properly its inevitable that the calls will start coming in with reports of missing people. A thirty year old man in Queens New York was killed when a tree fell and landed on him,two other people were killed when a tree landed on their car.New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has issued a state of emergency. The death toll could reach into the hundreds if not thousands by the time this massive killer storm has finished its destruction. With people without power and a cold front coming to the area the low temperature could cause massive freezing and adding to the death toll.

Nine States have declared a state of emergency so far, im sure there will be more too come as the week progressives.In North carolina there was a crew of 16 on a ship used in the movie “pirates of the caribbean” 14 were rescued bu t 2 crew members we’re still missing.With fifty million people in the path of hurricane sandy the disruption of lifestyles and everyday task are going to be difficult for those people.They will have to change the way they do their everyday task adjust to the disruption and keep pushing on.We are Americans we are strong,smart,and resilient and we always pick ourselves up after devastation and destruction and trudge on.
