How To Stay Positive In A Negative Situation

Constantly being in a negative situation or around negative people can drain us of our energy. It can wear us down until we are totally exhausted.

In the above video I told you a story of what was going on with me over 20 years ago. I have now found myself in a negative situation and again I have been letting it affect me in a not so healthy way.

In short, I live with my brother and my father and my daughter. This was not how I envisioned living life at 56.

My father became ill a couple of years ago, I was going through a divorce and my brother lost his job and needed a place to live. We all decided to live together and my brother and I would take care of my father. My brother has his own “forces of evil” fighting him.

I could feel myself being sucked into the web and felt like I was going to explode. I knew I needed to do something.

I started doing my devotional readings in the morning, I tried to dive into my work and stay in my room most of the day working and still tend to my fathers needs. I just tried to stay clear of the negativity, which helped to some degree, but not completely.

I knew something was still not right. I just didn’t feel right and I was still focused on the negativity going on. Then I read something on Saturday that spoke to me. It said “You won’t be able to devote yourself to your project unless you strengthen your intention. Happiness is expecting no one other than you to build the world you want.”

At that moment I knew I was not doing everything I needed to do to work through the negativity. I thought back on the conversations I had with my psychologist 20+ years ago. Then I was listening to a video by Tony Rush and he said “Whatever is holding you back is running your life right now.” Another aha moment.

Ever since I had these “AHA” moments, I feel like a weight was lifted from me. I have started setting boundaries that I don’t allow others to cross. I take care of myself and my daughter.  I started reading books about being positive and start the day off reading something positive.

I came across an e-book the other day titled Energy Vampires: How to Deal With Negative People by Jennifer O’Neill.

I have found this book really very helpful. It talks about the effects that negative people can have on your spiritual and physical body. It has tips for dealing with “Energy Vampires” and negative people. There are also a couple of meditation exercises as well.

The bottom line is that you need to take care of yourself. Do what you need to do to not be sucked into the negativity. Live the life that God intended for you to live. Once you start to take care of yourself, everything else will start to also be taken care of. I learned that so many years ago and I feel blessed that I was reminded that I can deal with this and work through it and I will be fine.

God Bless,

P.S.  ~  Blogging about your experiences and things you learn in life, or just blogging about the things you love to do, is really an rewarding experience. Helping others. Watch the video on the side bar and sign up and you too can help others while also taking care of yourself.
