Awesome Tips For Cooking Well And Efficiently

Whether you enjoy cooking for your family or for a significant other, like to experiment with new recipes, or work in a food service industry, cooking is a huge part of many people’s lives. Read this article to find out new cooking tips that can help you in any setting.

Always keep a variety of canned goods in your pantry. Canned corn, both creamed and whole kernel, is a particularly tasty dish by itself. So too are green beans. All you have to do is drain the water, add a bit of butter, and you have a side dish on the table in less time that it would take you to cook a TV dinner.

Avoid cooking soggy rice. When you are cooking rice, place a folded towel between the lid and the pot. When the rice steams, the moisture it creates will be absorbed by the towel and won’t drip back into the rice. Cook the rice for the recommended amount of time, and you will have perfect rice every time!

When you are planning to cook a big meal try prepping all of your foods the day before. This will help you save time and it will also be less mess to clean up after the big dinner. Chop all vegetables and cut up all your meat and store appropriately.

Before frying raw potatoes, let them sit in cold water for at least a half an hour. By doing this, the fries will be more crispy. Also, letting them sit in cold water will cut down on the time it takes for them to cook thoroughly.

You can use cooking to impress everyone from a potential spouse to a potential employer.

Make sure that if you are planning a party with friends and family, to have each course planned out in advance. You should have an appetizer course, salad course, main dish and dessert. Breaking your meal into courses will give people a chance to digest and appreciate what you have cooked for them.

To improve your level of convenience in the kitchen, one of the things that you can do is to freeze the excess sauces that you create, in ice cube trays. This will allow you to reheat them when you need sauce again and also to save money on the excess sauce that you kept.

When cooking with a saute pan, turn the handle of it in the opposite direction of you. Keeping the handle facing you increases the chance of bumping into and spilling your food. This is also a safety concern because you can burn yourself if the pan tips or falls over.

Always read a new recipe thoroughly before you begin cooking, preheating, or prepping. This prevents the hassles of running into surprise ingredients, equipment, or techniques and gives you a chance to hunt down substitutions–or a new recipe–if needed. Ideally, read the recipe before you do your shopping to ensure that you grab everything you need.

If you start slowly, you will continue learning cooking tips and tricks each time you cook.
