30 days ’til Austin

I’ve been in Toronto, Canada, for 12 days now. I came to visit my family but, mostly, I wanted to give the traditional work industry one last shot. I want to understand why people cling to this industry so strongly, why they try so hard to defend having a job and a boss. I’m sure there must be something behind this…

I challenge you, Traditional Work Industry, so surprise me!
Challenge accepted.

And to rise up to the challenge, I came to one of the most economically stable and prosperous countries in the world: CANADA. Let’s see what magic is this that was bewitched so many people.

Bring it on!

I’ve been in Toronto for 12 days and I still haven’t found a job. True, I admit that I have decided to be a bit picky. If I’m going to be working here it might as well be something I like and that will look good in a resume (or CV, whatever. I only discovered the difference 4 days ago.). I don’t wanna throw myself at the 1st job I find.

In the meantime some personal acquaintances aren’t too happy with this decision of mine. I’ve been in the restaurant industry in the Portuguese community in Toronto last Summer, but for some reason someone insists that I should return to that.

I’m not the same person I was one year ago. And that’s a good thing! I’ve learned a lot, grown a lot, and got involved in a [before] alien world called Working from home Industry.

I’m not the same person I was one year ago, and I learnt a lot, but specially learnt more about myself.

But there is one thing that I have learned that I had a real hard time realizing and seeing in myself. That thing is my today’s Sentence in my Countdown Journal:

I have value!

And lots of it. I have lots to offer the world. I’m worth a lot more then a night shift in a bakery, I’m worth a lot more then any boss, I’m worth a lot more then any minimum wage, employee, schedules that aren’t my own, money that’s never enough, I’m worth A LOT more then all that.

And you know why I’m worth a lot more then that?

Because I’m FREE.

And what I wish the most is that everyone can be free, but it’s your call. 

YOU are worth a lot more then any boss or minimum wage!

Let my Sentence of the day be a mantra for all those who think that a minimum wage is a reflection of your worth.
