E Squared, The Volkswagen Jetta Principle
First of All:
Experiment 1: a gift from the Dude/ (also on )
I have to admit that during the frist forty eight hours that followed the beginning of the first experiment, despite my fervent belief and conviction, I did not recognize a gift from ‘the Field of Potentiality”. I desperately wanted to – but I didn’t.
I spoke with my partner Laurie Davis who questioned me throughtly to ensure that perhaps I hadn’t “missed it”; but truth be told, I don’t htink it happened.
I attribute this to lack of attention and focus on my part. I was precoccupied and perhaps I wan’t sure what to expect.
I gave it another try – I’m no quitter.
Success! Although it didn’t take the shape I necessariiy anticipatd, I was in fact rewarded. And I was looking for it. Expecting it.
Perhaps that’s the key?
On to Experiment 2.
There was a T.V series about 20 years ago (perhaps I’m dating myself but what the heck) – it was called 30 something.
After the title it said “like life, but with better writers.”
In the second E-Squared Experiment, we are challenged to change “what we expect to see”. The idea is that by opening our minds and our senses from what we anticipate there is a whole gamut of things our brain simply hasn’t chosen to acknowledge.
Doesn’t mean it isn’t there. g We think what we perceive with our senses is true, but remember – it’s only one-half of one-millionth of a percent of what’s possible.
What shows up in our lives is a direct reflection of our inner thoughts and emotions .
There’s a tiny cluster of cells at the base of the brain stem that sort and evaluate incoming information. This control center is known as the reticular activating system (RAS).
Its function is to send out to the active part of the brain what it thinks is urgent. The non-urgent information is filed away at the back. While it’s organizing, it’s also busy interpreting, drawing inferences, and filtering out anything that doesn’t jive with what we “know to be true”.. In other words, we rehearse the world we want to see, in advance.
We didn’t wait for the “30 something” script.
When you believe something to be real – you are creating the energy vibrations that call it into existence.
The Theory: You impact the field and draw from it according to your beliefs and expectations.
The Question: Do I really see only what I expect to see?
The Hypothesis: If I decide to look for sunset-beige cars and butterflies (or purple feathers), I will find them.
