Choose Your Attitude
Choose your attitude
There are people in our lives that we just love being around. They lift our spirits and give us joy. Other people just suck the life right out of us. They’re so negative we walk away feeling emotionally drained. Meeting these de-energizers is often unavoidable. After a disheartening interaction, some seek out people to vent their frustrations to, who in turn experience the effects of frustration and decreased energy.
~ Choose your attitude ~
Attitude, negative or positive, is contagious. Which one are you spreading? Have you ever been around people who have it made, and yet all they do is complain?
So many people overlook all that they have to be grateful for and complain about every little everyday thing that goes wrong. Hence the saying, “If it’s not one thing, it’s
another.”
It’s all too easy for us to internalize the harsh messages society feeds us.
The things that go right during the course of a given day far outweigh the things that go wrong. So it is time to stop negative thoughts in their tracks.
Attitude is the foundation and support of everything we do, a key element in the process of controlling our destiny and achieving mastery in our personal and professional life.
Learning to monitor, control, and tap into a positive attitude is the key to every self-help process. In fact, the most valuable asset you can possess is a positive attitude toward your life. It isn’t how much you know about maintaining a positive attitude that’s important; its how well and how consistently, you put that knowledge to use.
Your attitude is often one of the first things people notice about you. You may not be able to change your height or your body type, but you can change your attitude. Many
researchers believe that a positive attitude is not a product of genetics and heredity but, with proper training, an acquired trait. The best thing about your attitude is that if it’s bad, it can be made better, and if it’s good, it can be made even greater.
Each of us has the power to choose a positive attitude over a negative one. If you want an attitude that works for you, that improves the quality of your life and enables you to
accomplish your dreams, you have to work at it. You can’t just sit around and wait for a positive attitude to come over you.
Choose your attitude
Your attitude is a powerful tool for positive action. It’s inherently interwoven into everything you do. It’s a priceless possession. The good news is, you don’t have to buy it. But you do have to develop it.
Monitor your thoughts. Are your thoughts mostly positive or mostly negative? How do you let these external things affect you? Perhaps that’s one of the biggest tests of your life, this learning how to transform the negative into positive.
Don’t waste time and energy on worrying. We often tend to create situations that don’t even exist. So be very careful about the negative thoughts that you’re programming into
your head.
Worrying is one of the most ineffective, counter-productive things you can do with your time. When you worry, you may be picturing a negative event in your mind and creating, in
essence, the exact thing that you want to avoid. Instead, you have to create alternative, positive mental pictures.
If you find yourself worrying about a particular scenario, stop thinking about it right away. Then immediately replace it with a positive thought about the same scenario.
Choose your attitude and remember that your attitude today determines your success tomorrow.
