What Not to do as an Internet Marketer

Ok so you finally found out about internet marketing and you are super excited to get started but don’t have an idea where to start. I want to share some things not to do as an internet marketer with you as well as what you can do and should do.

1. Don’t spam your affiliate links on the social networks – If you are on Facebook it could be tempting to drop a link one someones wall hoping to get some free traffic but at the end of the day in most cases you will sever a relationship and people will know you are a newbie.

2. Don’t tag other people in your photos – If you get the other persons consent it is fine but in most cases people will not want to be tagged in your photos unless you are on the same team in business.

3. Don’t send your links without developing a relationship first and asking for permission. People do business with people they know like and trust so dumping a link to someone through email or an inbox message in Facebook without connecting with me first will get you unfriended or if you are sending people emails that they did not opt in for it is considered spam.

4. Money pictures – Don’t do it, and most people that do are in most cases broke…

5. False or shady advertising practices – Never use someone else’s picture in your advertising, not only is it stupid depending on the person you used for a picture can result in legal action.

6. Faking it till you make it – Many internet marketers go this route but in my opinion build your business on solid ground and faith it till you make it, share each small result you get and you will be trusted and you will feel better about your success.

7. Negative posts about other companies – Don’t slander another persons company in order to make yours sound better. If you can’t say something positive don’t say anything…

8. Fan Pages – On Facebook you can build a fan page that you can use to build your brand, yes I said your brand because people are joining you and not the company. The thing not to do is go on other peoples fan page and comment on their posts with your affiliate links, I see many people do this and all it will do is get you blocked from ever doing it again and if you do it enough you will end up in facebook jail…

9. Don’t add people you don’t know yet on Facebook – Take a look at the persons profile and see what they do or what their interests are and shoot a message first and ask if it is ok to add them and in most cases they will say yes. If you add too many people and they do not accept you – bam to Facebook jail….

10. Don’t spam groups on social networks – Read the rules of any group you join and know what is ok to post and what is not and you will stay out of trouble, some will allow you to post anything and others will not.

Ok now here are some things you can do

1. Learn how to generate leads for free – You want to be an internet marketer right? Ok then you need to be generating leads daily, you can do this by creating content that matches the niche you are in or by creating videos with information that is helpful. (You will become the hunted instead of the hunter)

2. Personal development – Listen to audios or read books that inspire you to be the best you that you can, mindset is key to being extremely successful in anything so don’t discount that fact. The majority of very wealthy people read many books each month – constantly growing.

3. Learn how to generate leads on a budget – When you have a marketing budget you can do solo ads, pay per click ads, you can boost posts on your Fan Page or create a banner ad… The options are endless, just get good at one method and then move on to another once you have it mastered.

4. Take massive action – When you are just starting you need to build momentum and that will never happen if you are constantly in the learning mode so setup a daily method of operation and stick to it!

5. Teach – You need to learn, do and teach your way to success. The minute you somewhat understand start taking action and then teach what you learned to someone else, there is always someone who doesn’t know it yet.

6. Share the results with your list or on your blog or social media.

7. Be genuine – There is only one you and people will either like you or not and you are only trying to attract the ones that do so learn who your avatar is. In other words who will relate to you.

8. Be mindful of how valuable your time is – Whatever can be solved through an email or a text should be handled in that fashion remember you probably got into internet marketing for freedom so with that said anything you get asked a lot create content for it and send the blog post or video to the interested party. You will become better at doing videos and blog posts and people will start finding your content through search engines and you will become a trusted person and attract even more people to you.

9. Share value in social media – Share pictures and quotes that inspire you and in turn you will be inspiring others. Create content and share helpful things with people and you will get noticed for the right reasons.

10. Be excited – Remember how excited you were when you first started? Keep that level of excitement and results will follow and never ever quit as it takes time to learn and apply.

Hope this sheds some light on internet marketing and helped you!
