Worried about negative comments of “scam” claims related to…

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

From time to time someone who is brand new to the game of advertising a company will call me worried about some “negative testimonial” or some “fraud report” they read about such-and-such business.

Due to the fact that most individuals who’ve been in company a while comprehend what I’m about to describe to you, this doesn’t happen extremely frequently I think.

The fact is …

ALL programs that are nice enough to in fact impinge into culture will get negative reviews.

ALL them.

There are no exceptions.

It does not matter exactly how good or bad is their service or product, etc

. They WILL get unfavorable reviews if they do enough business and create a huge sufficient effect.

This is a reality.

This is something you discover in “kindergarten” on the planet of business promotion.

I could recall, way back in 1997 when I first started with my own company … every now and then I would encounter somebody who just appeared to devote themselves to making less of exactly what I was doing, though I had nothing but the best intentions, though the product was more valuable than exactly what we charged, etc. Since I took it personally, in the start I utilized to get balled up about it. You understand, “What am I doing wrong ?!”. It took me a while to learn that these people were not sane. They might not even be discussed or suggested with because the argument was absolutely non-sequiter. And when I did choose to try and “explain” it didn’t matter the amount of I explained, or the amount of sense it made or exactly how fair I was. They would simply develop an additional foolish “reason” why I/we were “bad”.

The fact is that there was absolutely nothing whatsoever wrong with exactly what we were doing.

2.5 % of the population is anti-social and will attack anything that helps people, any type of groups that help, anything that is not triggering harm … they will attack it.

You could be offering cost-free cable television for life with no catch and somebody would attack you for it, perhaps with some false case about malintentions that you have (which you actually do not).

It’s like this:.

If you don’t have somebody stating that you are a “fraud” or that you are in some way “bad” … if you don’t have some unfavorable testimonials out there it implies one thing and something just (assuming you are NOT genuinely ripping people off):.

It indicates that you have not worked hard enough or connected efficiently enough to promote your program. That’s it.

A few of you reading this will think “Wait, so you’re informing me that if I don’t have somebody providing me crap and questioning my intentions that is a bad thing because I have not done enough to promo?”.

That is appropriate.

If you advertise efficiently and create a huge impact on the planet you will get unfavorable judgment.

There is no way around it … duration.

If you, in your company right now, do not have people occasionally emailing you to inform you that you are somehow doing wrong, or questioning your intentions, or posting stuff around the net which is negative about your or what you are doing it suggests that you have actually not been ambitious enough and have actually not taken almost enough action in making yourself know.

Once more, it does not matter what you are doing or what you are promoting. If you are doing anything which helps people, if you are doing anything which allows individuals to make a positive modification in their lives … somebody will be attacking you for it.

It is a reality.

If you have not observed this about your company yet, you are not advertising successfully enough.

If you are really, actually great and promoting and you really, actually have something that helps a lot of individuals, particularly if it’s something that has individuals making a great deal more cash than they were formerly you will get lots and heaps of adverse crap.

I would go so far as stating that you might gauge exactly how well you are doing by the amount of attack and adverse waste that you get from the anti-socials.

It’s a pretty good gauge.

You can take this as an axiom (fundamental truth).

The more you help and the more effective you are at creating and communicating and result with your promo, the even more anti-social, unfavorable backlash you will get.

That is just the method that it is.

You are either not making any type of type of an influence upon your market or you are one of the 2.5 % if you do not think it.

So for any of you who may be linked to me in any type of sort of company model, if you are not getting at least one email per week from some “nut” grumbling about something outrageous which, when you review it, you think “What is this guy, nuts?” … you are failing to promote enough. That’s it. Get to work.

The best ways to handle the anti-social reaction:.

Now, there is absolutely nothing wrong with posting the reality in an online forum or something like that if you happen to come across something like this uploaded out in the open. Keep in mind that 97.5 % of the population will look at that negative garbage and realize that it’s being posted by some hyper-critical goof who has nothing much better to do but invest his time uploading negativeness.

Simply ignore it. You reinforce the positive feedback and disregard the negative.

What the point of all this?

The point is that when examining a new opportunity to see if it’s something that you wish to be involved in, you need to examine it based upon the records from the source. Neglect the uninformed crap that is being uploaded by the 2.5 %. It’s undependable, often incorrect, and is uploaded not to spread out naked truth in almost all cases, however is posted to “squash” something that is helping others. That’s all.

Let’s face it, if you are visiting have the capacity to construct your very own company you are going to have to have the ability to a minimum of evaluate a chance for yourself.

The naked truth is that there are extremely few actual scams out there and there are many, numerous anti-social characters uploading adverse crap about a lot of great programs.

The anti-social does not want to see individuals get better or happier. He does not want to see people get helped. He wishes everyone else to be weak and stupid and poor so that they are not a hazard to himself. Why? Because the anti-social is an individual who is weak and so afraid inside that if anyone improves or more powerful this would be a significant problem for him because he is already a fearful little bunny inside. You’ll often find a great deal of these guys operating in healthcare facilities and mental institutions and such, or even with youngsters because in this manner they can be surrounded by the “weak” instead of the strong on a daily basis and somehow that makes them feel safer.

Basically, they are huge “wussies”.

In 15 years in this industry I have never ever, ever … EVER seen a bellyacher or a “glass-is-half-empty” sort of individual make it. I’ve never ever seen one do well.

It actually is sad and it is most likely more apt to feel pity for somebody like this than it is to even try and get mad at them. It would be like getting mad at a squirrel or a rabbit for taking your walnut or something like that.

However look … this is something that after you’ve been in business for a while you’ll simply see it. As well as without somebody like me to come along and point this out to you, if you are consistent in company you will at some point specify where you will simply anticipate a particular quantity of bullshit remarks and insanity from individuals like this because you will run into to frequently enough … not ALL the time, practically 2.5 % of the moment.

So if you’ve got state 104 or 105 customers on your email list, you’ve got 2 or 3 of these men on your listing. That is where you are getting those emails where, after you review them, you feel even worse that before you review them.

I’ll typically give people one chance to remedy their attitude with a reply such as:.

“I am right here to help those who all the best wish assistance. Some really do want to help themselves and others. Some like to look and complain for “reasons” why things can’t work or how things cannot be true, etc. , if you regards prefer help I could help you.. If you like to communicate in an unfavorable fashion I will simply delete any type of additional e-mails unread”.

From time to time the man will go “You understand, you’re right, my perspective stinks …” then we get on fine from there. Most of the time they come back with more negative BS and when they do I simply delete the e-mail. , if their e-mail originated as a reply to one of my auto-responder follow ups I’ll use the link at the bottom to remove them from my list.

.

People are not “entitled” to anything I’m sending out. And there is no law that states I have to interact with individuals I don’t wish to.

Hope that helps.

In the start I used to get balled up about it due to the fact that I took it personally. The anti-social does not want to see people get better or happier. He does not desire to see people get helped. Because the anti-social is an individual who is so scared and weak inside that if anyone gets much better or stronger this would be a significant trouble for him because he is currently an afraid little rabbit inside. Every when in a while the guy will go “You know, you’re right, my mindset stinks …” and then we get on fine from there.
