What to Write About When You Start Blogging

People ask all the time, “What should I write about?” Heck, I don’t know. What do you want to write about? What kind of a person are you? What are you passionate about?

See, the thing is it’s not so important WHAT you write about as it is that you simply get started and write daily about something, anything at all. Well, within reason of course. It probably wouldn’t be very attractive or beneficial to others to write about illegal activity or nasty stuff. Whatever your passion is, just express it and I am sure you will find an audience that will like what you write about. When you write consistently over time, the search engines take notice, and your articles will rank higher on the search engines, which will give your blog more traffic.

Is there anything good-natured that you like? Do you like baseball, dogs, cats, or playing poker, hiking, sky diving? Do you enjoy traveling, collecting bullfrogs, studying teradactle skeletons, devouring hot-wings, volunteer work or playing music?

Just be real and honest. Who wants to join someone who has no integrity? Not me buddy. But show me and honest person who has a compassionate heart toward others, who’s not puffed up with pride, who’s genuine, and that’s another story.

Why write about what your passions? Because something that you love to do, will naturally flow out of your heart. And that will propel you through the juicy times and carry you through the dry times. Dry times? What? Don’t talk about that. Come on, let’s be real here. Unless you’ve already ‘arrived’, you might agree, life is not a bowl of cherries. Life is what happens while we are in the midst of going where we’re going and doing what we’re doing. And God forbid it should happen to you, but if you ever have to deal with some kind of circumstance that has the potential to knock you down, you’re far less likely to develop ‘writer’s block’ or stay there, when you’re writing about something you’re excited about.

There are about 182,000 people looking online every day for some type of way to make money from home, so a good thing to remember is to try to blend whatever you write about with whatever it is you are offering others to help them financially. In other words, tie it to your opportunity somehow.

Like for instance, I’ve given you a few pointers. Just start writing, write about what excites you. Be real. You will find a following. Be consistent. You will get more traffic. So, now that you’ve got them, you might be asking, where to write.

Some people write on free hosting sites. I don’t know how many times I’ve heard about the tragedies others have experienced at the hands of free blog sites! Months worth of hard work down the drain in an instant! The reason that free sites are not a good idea is because if for some reason they don’t like something you say, they can simply turn it off. And if you don’t have it backed up, you’ll most likely lose everything.

So, where should you write then? Well, the best thing is to own your own website and pay for your own hosting. When you do that, you control what goes on your site and what changes. WordPress is a very popular content management and blogging platform that many people use to do their blogs on. You can even set up your email with your own hosted website, and that also makes you look more professional.

So, what do you name your website? A lot of people buy a website in their own name. Just think about it. Write down 4 or 5 possibilities. You can check each one to see if someone else already owns it. There are various places that sell websites. Not to be a promoter of Godaddy, but it is one of them. There are lots of hosting sites too. A lot of people like HostGator. I definitely like their 24/7 live support! lol

But starting out blogging on your own site can be a long lonely road before you start getting into profits. Why? Because there are a TON of things to learn to get you traffic. And all that usually takes a very long time to do on your own.
