Ever since I can remember Bass Fishing has been a passion. Maybe even an addiction. Whether you are just getting started in the world of bass fishing or have been fishing for years like I have, I feel we have something that we can offer each other as fellow fishermen.

Bass Fishing – The Thrill

For me there are many reasons that I love to catch bass, and among the top of my list is the thrill that comes from finessing a bass into taking a lure. Thinking back to one of my first memories of bass fishing I can remember fishing a floating Rapala and watching a bass explode the surface of the water and devour my lure… that was awesome and I was hooked! Just like that bass who couldn’t resist that Rapala, I couldn’t resist going again and again to experience that same thrill! And it still never gets old.

Bass Fishing – Tactics

There are endless tactics when it comes to bass fishing and catching this powerful predator of the fresh water world. One of my suggestions is to be creative. Bass feed or attach for different reasons and understanding their patterns and reason is a key to catching more bass.

Bass Fishing – Bedding Bass

For instance, a bass sitting on a bed will hit a lure to protect and defend it’s nest. This is why spot fishing for bass is an amazing way to fish while they are bedding. When you spot a bass sitting on its nest you want to throw something like a tube bait or a plastic lizard and keeping it in right in front of the bass till you make it mad enough to attack…then they are yours.

Bass Fishing Top Water Bass

If you have never been fishing for the top water bass bite when bass fishing you need to. There is nothing more exciting then seeing a bass explode on your lure while it is sitting on top of the water. The top water bite generally happens early in the morning or right before the sun sets. My favorite top water lure has been and always will be the Original Floating Rapala and I recommend that you go get some and go as the sun is rising or setting and cast out towards some cover (trees, bushes, underwater structures, or docks…you get the point) and let it sit for a few seconds. Then the magic happens… give it a good twitch and pause retrieve and wait for the water to boil when a bass takes the bait!
