Welcome to the Daily Perricone.

Read daily advice from Dr. Perricone and his team to enrich your life and keep looking young.

Dr. Perricone used to have an office in Meriden, CT.  Dr. Perricone was my daughters doctor.  She was born with a couple of birth marks which Dr. Perricone was recommend to look at to see if safe to stay on her body or need to take off.  He directed us to keep an eye on birth marks to check for any change.

Dr. Perricone has developed Blue Plasma Orbital: The Eye Appeal

To restore the bright, fresh look of youthful eyes, Dr. Perricone created a non-acidic peel.

Blue Plasma Orbital: The Eye Appeal

Reveal Brighter, More Youthful Eyes says Dr. Perricone

To restore the bright, fresh look of youthful eyes, Dr. Perricone created a non-acidic peel uniquely formulated to reveal smoother skin around the eye area, without causing the damage that often comes with conventional exfoliation methods. In fact, one of the key advantages to using Blue Plasma Orbital, as opposed to a granule-based exfoliator, is that it is non-invasive and does not promote inflammation.

How it Works

Blue Plasma Orbital helps assist in the skin’s natural exfoliation process, while infusing the eye area with potent antioxidants and nutrients that enhance skin’s natural repair mechanism. A concentrated blend of Plankton and licorice extracts visibly diminishes puffiness around the eyes, while salmon egg enzyme removes stubborn debris, thereby softening the appearance of lines.

Blue Plasma Orbital’s 3 primary modes of action:

  1. Bio-specific peeling; which targets only dead skin cells to reveal brighter, more youthful looking skin.
  2. Micro-extraction to lift surface debris, unclogging and purifying the skin of build-up. This helps to ensure that environmental aggressors, such as pollution, smog and remnants of makeup are removed.
  3. Hydro-fusion helps to rebalance skin’s hydration levels with enriched water. Blue Plasma Orbital was formulated so that no rinsing needed. Simply apply and follow with your daily skincare regimen. If using another eye treatment, layer over Blue Plasma Orbital.

Blue Plasma Orbital Tips:

  1. A glowing complexion begins with clean skin. Choose a non-drying, gentle cleanser to thoroughly remove surface debris and traces of makeup before you exfoliate with Blue Plasma Orbital for best results.
  2. No need to rinse. Follow Blue Plasma Orbital with a targeted eye treatment of your choice, depending on your skin’s needs, for enhanced results.
  3. No increased sensitivity. Although Blue Plasma Orbital is specially formulated to exfoliate without causing increasing skin’s sensitivity to the sun, it’s always a good idea to protect this fragile area with a broad-spectrum sunscreen.
  4. It’s gentle. Blue Plasma Orbital works on a range of skin types and is formulated to be used daily for optimal results.

As we discuss techniques to keep the eye area beautiful from “the outside in”, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention one of my favorite foods to help maintain the beauty (and health) of the eyes from the inside out: kale. Rich in carotenoids, this leafy green helps make the whites of your eyes appear whiter and is even thought to help preserve vision.

No Concealer Concealer wins “Best Concealer”

September 4, 2013 by ascott • Comment

We’re thrilled to have received Prevention Magazine’s Beauty Award for “Best Concealer” for our multi-tasking No Concealer Concealer SPF 35. According to the panel of judges from Prevention, “this moisturizing, non-chalky camouflage conceals circles without depositing pancakey crud in fine lines. Plus, it doesn’t require tons of pulling to blend in.” We couldn’t have said it better.

In this clip, Prevention Magazine’s Beauty Director presents “9 Award-Winning Makeup Items for Eyes, Face” on The Today Show and explains that No Concealer Concealer won because it “doesn’t cake or settle in the creases.” This moisturizing, nonchalky camouflage conceals circles without depositing pancakey crud in fine lines. Plus, it doesn’t require tons of pulling to blend in.

3 Tips for Bright Eyes

1.  Apply your favorite eye treatment to your entire eye area, including the orbital bone and above the brow bone.

2. Dispense a pea-sized amount of the No Concealer Concealer SPF 35 onto the back of your hand. With fingers or a concealer brush, dot the product under the eye, extending out to the “crow’s feet” area and above the brow bone. This will not only protect and camouflage any discoloration, but it will also help give your brows additional definition.

3. Apply remainder of No Concealer Concealer just under the brow bone. This will further define the brow and also give your lids and even, youthful appearance.

5 Antioxidants for Glowing Skin

In need of some healthy eating motivation? Remember that the foods you choose not only impact your waistline, but your overall beauty level and brain function as well. As Dr. Perricone states in his  “Brain-Beauty Connection”, the foods that make us beautiful on the outside also help better our brain function. Essentially, what is good for the skin is good for the brain. Here are 5 antioxidants to add to boost your glow:

1. Beta-carotene is thought to balance skin’s pH level, help combat dryness, and promote healthy cell turnover, which slows as we age. All of these benefits will result in smoother, more even looking skin.

Found in: spinach, butternut squash, sweet potatoes.

2. Astaxanthin is the pigment that makes the fish pink and acts as a powerful defender against free radicals, which are the molecules that damage cells and DNA, causing skin to age.

Found in: wild Alaskan salmon, shrimp, crab.

3. Lycopene is the red pigment that gives tomatoes their hue is an antioxidant called lycopene, which when eaten regularly helps provide photo-protective benefits, helping skin better tolerate the sun. To best absorb lycopene, make sure you’re eating tomatoes with a healthy fat, such as olive oil.

Found in: tomatoes, canned tomato products.

4. Vitamin C is not only essential to a healthy immune system, but also for building collagen, which is the connective tissue that holds our bodies together and gives skin its plump, supple look.

Found in: citrus fruits, leafy green vegetables.

5. Lutein is a nutrient that helps protect skin from UVA/UVB induced inflammation and wrinkles in addition to keeping eyes healthy and clear.

Found in: Spinach, kale, arugula etc.

Walnut Crusted Salmon Fillets

August 20, 2013 by ascott • 1 Comment

Dr. Perricone’s recipe for Salmon

Dr. Perricone’s  recipe combines two Omega-3 rich superstars- salmon and walnuts. Walnuts are thought to help support healthy capillaries by fortifying the endothelial cells. Serve with a watercress salad for a detoxifying yet satisfying treat.

Ingredients

Serves 4

  • 1/2 cup raw unsalted walnut halves
  • 1 tablespoon honey or agave syrup
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon-style mustard
  • 1/8 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Four 6-ounce skin-on, center-cut salmon fillets, 3/4 to 1 inch thick

Directions

1. Place raw walnuts into a mini food processor until finely chopped.

2. Spread them on a plate.

3. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

4. Use nonstick cooking oil spray to grease a baking dish large enough to hold the salmon fillets in a single layer.

5. Whisk together the honey, mustard, salt and pepper in a small bowl.

6. Generously brush the tops and sides of the fillets with the mixture.

7. Use your hands to press the top of each fillet onto the plate of walnuts, making sure to coat the top evenly and completely. As you work, arrange each coated fillet in the baking dish, skin side down.

8. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or to the desired degree of doneness.

9. Serve warm.

The 28-Day Diet Recipes

The 28- Day Diet recipes by Dr. Perricone

Dr. Perricone states -One of the best tools we have in the fight against aging is the food we eat on a daily basis. The foods included in these recipes are anti-inflammatory and contain nutrients that will help feed your skin from the inside out.

Tips for starting the anti-inflammatory diet:

  • At each meal, your plate should have three components: a high quality lean protein, a complex carbohydrate and a healthy fat.
  • Always eat several bites of your protein first. This will help you feel full faster.
  • Drink plenty of water in between meals.
  • Choose wild salmon vs. farmed. Farmed salmon has a different nutritional profile and tends to be fattier.
  • Choose green tea instead of coffee. If you have concerns about caffeine withdrawal, Dr. Perricone recommends substituting black or yerba mate teas.

Getting the “No Makeup” Look

June 25, 2013 by ascott • 1 Comment

Erica spends much of her free time out doors in the Los Angeles heat riding her horses, so her main concerns are protecting her skin from sun damage and using an SPF makeup that makes her feel finished, but “not like she’s wearing makeup.”

1. Gentle Cleanser: Her skin tends to be on the drier side, and she prefers the Gentle Cleanser because it leaves her skin feeling “silky”. Formulated to be nourishing, Gentle Cleanser gently, yet deeply, removes any impurities and debris from her pores.

2. Acyl Glutathione Eye Lid Serum: Once her skin is thoroughly cleansed, Erica applies a half a pump of the Acyl Glutathione Eye Lid Serum to her orbital area, starting under the eye, massaging the product around the eye area, and onto the lid to prevent dryness and help maintain the skin’s elasticity.

3. No Concealer Concealer SPF 35: Next, Erica targets any areas of redness or discoloration on her face by dabbing just a bit of No Concealer Concealer SPF 35. Tip: No Concealer Concealer makes an excellent under eye concealer as well as a lid primer.

4. No Foundation Foundation SPF 30: Erica concentrates one pump of the No Foundation Foundation SPF 30 onto the center of her face and blends outward to the edges of her face.

Olive Oil Poached Halibut

May 21, 2013 by ascott • 3 Comments

Eating a diet rich in fish will put you on the fast track to good skin. This is an ideal dish to help repair signs of aging like sun damage from the inside out. Here’s a delicious recipe and deceptively easy recipe adapted from epicurious.com.

Ingredients

  • ¼  cup capers, rinsed
  • 2 ½  lb (1-inch-thick) halibut fillets
  • 1 ½  large lemons, thinly sliced crosswise
  • ¼  cup fresh flat-leaf parsley
  • 2 cups extra-virgin olive oil
  • Fresh lemon juice

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 250°F.

2. Chop half of capers and pat fish dry.

3. Sprinkle fish with 1 ½  teaspoons salt and ½ teaspoon pepper.

4. Let stand 10 minutes at room temperature.

5. Arrange half of lemon slices in 1 layer in an 8-inch square glass baking dish and arrange fish in 1 layer over lemon.

6. Top with all of capers, remaining lemon slices, and 3 tablespoons parsley, then pour oil over fish.

7. Bake in middle of oven, uncovered, until fish just flakes and is cooked through, about 1 to 1 ¼  hours.

Serve fish with some of lemon slices, capers, and oil spooned over. Sprinkle with remaining tablespoon parsley. Bon appétit!

Combination? Sensitive? This SPF is Made for You.

May 10, 2013 by ascott • Comment

For sensitive types, SPF can be the trickiest part of their skincare regimen. Many SPF’s are formulated with chemical sunscreens, which can often provoke sensitivity in a range of skin types. Photo Plasma is physical sunscreen made of micro-pulverized minerals to provide non-chemical broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection. Tip: If the sunscreen contains only Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide, it is physical SPF.

People with enlarged pores or combination skin tend to be unhappy with “weighty” SPF’s go on thick and tend to sit on the skin, rather than absorb. Photo Plasma is an oil-free formulation, but you’d never know by touching it. It has an incredible lightweight texture and feels like cool air on your skin.

Photo Plasma’s hydrating ingredients keep skin look velvety, dewy and fresh while defending against environmental aggressors such as sun exposure, dehydration, pollution, harsh wind, excessive heat, extreme cold, heavy metals, smoke, stress and chemical irritants.

What are your questions about Photo Plasma?

Pink Power: Astaxanthin

May 8, 2013 by ascott • Comment

One of the key anti aging ingredients in Photo Plasma is the antioxidant Astaxanthin, a naturally occurring sun protector that can mitigate some of the damage caused by the sun’s ultra violet rays. Did you know:

  • Astaxanthin has been protecting plants for thousands of years. It’s part of the carotenoid family, a group of plant chemicals (antioxidants) that are used by certain species of flora to help defend against damage from the sun’s rays.
  • Astaxanthin’s pink presence is visible in some of the animals that consume a plant-based diet rich in algae (think seafood such as salmon, shrimp, crab and lobster).
  • Unfortunately, humans cannot simply rely on consuming foods rich in astaxanthin to prevent sunburn. Taking a dietary supplement made with astaxanthin may be beneficial, but needs time to accumulate in the system over a matter of weeks.
