Hello. I’ve been marketin gonline for a little while and I’ve found that the same questions come up time and again.
What do you need to make an income online?
I decided to put this answer into a simple checklist that you can use to set up your online business.
Disclaimer : Please note this is a BASIC checklist and does not attempt to cover all aspects but does give you the toolset that’s you’ll need.
I have used CAPITAL letters to denote words that you should have defined correctly as these are the words used in the online marketing field and often have specialised definitions which are different from everyday use definition.
INFORMATION : Over 90% of people who ‘try’ online marketing fail and they do so because they do not understand the BASIC TERMS that they are using.
Make very sure that you do NOT go past a word that you do not fully understand. Use a good dictionary and/or Google or Wikipedia to get the terms defined fully.
1. The OFFER. You need something to sell. It can be a product or service that you own OR you can sell someone else’s product as an AFFILIATE
2. . A TRAFFIC source. (an e-mail list, a website, a link posted on twitter or FB etc. etc.
these are the minimum items, you can get an offer from a marketing resource like clickbank or JVZoo and just send an email to a list with the link to the offer. You might get lucky and make more than you spend on the traffic.
3. A DOMAIN NAME This is a name like “jeremusic.com” (mine!) wher you can HOST your WEBSITE, or CAPTURE PAGE.
4. A CAPTURE PAGE, this is a simple webpage that promotes an offer and has an e-mail form (created by your AUTORESPONDER) in order to add the e-mail of the person who OPTs-IN for your offer to your LIST.
5. AUTORESPONDER. is a service or a piece of software that collects the e-mail that your LEAD has provided so that you can send FOLLOW-UP emails to them, whether or not they actually buy the OFFER that you have promoted.
Using these BASIC TOOLS you can find offers and promote them to a TARGETED NICHE (likely prospectes for your offer) and as the pass through your OPT-IN page to your OFFER they get added to your LIST.
And there you have it!
That’s the basic checklist of tools that you should acquire and get familiar with using in order to begin building your online business.
