How Do I Start Crossfit…

I’m been flirting with the IDEA of crossfit for a couple years now. Yes, literally a couple of years. A friend of mine has her own box in Minnesota, and tried to coach me through it long distance, but I just couldn’t commit.
Much to my surprise a Crossfit box has recently opened here, fairly near (as near as anything is) to my house.
I’ve passed it quite a bit, and every time I think about getting started with crossfit… and wondering if it’s something I really want to take on.
Today, being my 42 birthday, and zooming on a yearly theme of FEARLESS, I decided to stop in.
Everyone seemed really nice. There were people of all shapes and sizes getting ready to work out, and other than the thought in the back of my head about throwing up after a workout, I thought I could do it.
How Do I Start Crossfit
You can do crossfit at home, by yourself. The daily workouts aka crossfit wods are posted daily. You can put your times up on the website to become more a part of the community.
However, that just didn’t work out very well for me.
With a Crossfit Box now open in Wellington, here’s how it goes.
1. You go through two weeks of starter sessions. These are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. From what I hear, you will be VERY sore. But you keep coming back.
2. Once you finish your starter sessions you then jump in with a group at any of the regularly scheduled workout times.
This box offers quite a few times to workout, through different parts of the day. Which is nice.
You go through the Workout Of The Day, and then post your time on the board. That way… everyone can see your time, and you can see your time in relation to everyone else’s time… and see if you’re doing better over time!
That’s basically how you get started in crossfit.
Make a decision and then do it.
I’ve been on an up and down roller coaster with my weight, and my fitness through my whole adult life.
At this point in my life I’m not looking to “lose weight”. I’m looking to become a part of a community where I can start, continue and maintain my fitness over the long haul. I’m looking for fitness to become part of who I am… like a blogger, it’s just part of my daily life, and my life in general.
I think I can do this with Crossfit. I love to work HARD when I workout, do it quickly and have it be done… and that’s pretty much what Crossfit is all about.
Here’s what I’m in for…
What about you? Are you going after what you want in your life? Whether it’s to have a healthier, more fit body, or being able to work from home and fire your boss?
Anything you want to do you CAN do… it just takes a decision.
