My husband used to be the king of the grill… however, this summer I’ve taken over. I’ve become a champ at this grilled BBQ chicken recipe.
It’s really simple, but when done right… it’s delicious!
Grilled BBQ Chicken Recipe
What you need:
Chicken legs (as many as you need/want)
BBQ sauce (we use Kraft Honey BBQ ~ always great sales on it!)
Jack’s Gourmet seasoning (or your favorite meat seasoning/rub)
Here’s what you do:
Preheat the grill so it’s VERY hot!
While the grill is heating up, sprinkle a generous amount of seasoning over the chicken legs, making sure to flip them over and get it on all sides. You can even pat it in a little bit to make sure it stays on.
Oil the grill once it’s hot… just grab some tongs and a folded up paper towel, dip the paper towel in some vegetable oil and rub it over the grill. It creates a non stick surface and helps your chicken not stick.
Put your chicken on the grill.
Set the timer for 10 minutes.
Flip the chicken over to the opposite side you just grilled.
Set the time for another 10 minutes.
Flip the chicken to the side that hasn’t been well browned.
Set the timer for another 10 minutes. At this point you may want to turn the grill down a little bit to medium.
That’s it. When the timer goes off your chicken should be done. Make sure your chicken runs clear when pierced. Temperatures of grills may vary, so you may need an additional 10 minutes on the last side of the chicken… but mine gets done perfectly in 3 ten minute cycles.
Pour 1/2 the bottle of BBQ sauce into a low flat dish. As you pull each piece of chicken off the grill, roll it in BBQ sauce, and then place on a dish to bring in the house. If your family loves a very rich BBQ add the rest of the bottle on the chicken. (We usually grill up a big package of chicken so we have leftovers… it’s no more difficult to grill 25 pieces of chicken than to do 4… you can also freeze this and reheat for later).
Add your sides, and serve! I hope you enjoy this grilled BBQ chicken recipe!
