Easy No Bake Mouse Cookie

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

This little project is usually one my Mom and Hanna tackle. However, my mom is down with the flu and Hanna really wanted to take these for her holiday party at school… so time was running out.

Mom to the rescue.

These little cookies seem complex, but actually once we got everything set up they were super easy… and no bake which is nice. They are some of the cutest cookies I’ve ever seen.

No Bake Mouse Cookie

Here’s what you’ll need:

25 oreo cookies ~ get double stuff they’ll look better and twist easier a bottle of marachino cherries (our bottle had 25 in it)
1 cup semi sweet chips
2 tsp shortening sliced almonds
Hershey Kisses red and green decorating gel

Here’s what you do…

Drain your cherries, and let them dry on a paper towel. They really need to be dry for the chocolate to stick.

Twist your oreos apart, and save the half with the filling.

Unwrap 25 kisses and have them standing by.

Melt the chocolate and shortening stirring until it’s creamy and smooth. I did 30 second intervals with stirring in between… it took 3 times to get it to the right consistency.

Grab your cherries by the tail and dip them into the chocolate. This will be the mouse body and tail. This part is great for little hands, my 6 year old was masterful at it.

Let the chocolate drip off the cherries a little bit, then place the chocolate covered cherry on the white part of the oreo. Put it a little bit to the side with the stem aka tail sticking off the edge of the cookie.

Attach  the kiss to the cherry, just by pushing them together, with the pointy part facing out. This will be the mouse’s nose.

Place two sliced almonds between the cherry and the kiss, these are the ears. You don’t have to push them in very far, they will sit there very nicely and get stuck in the chocolate as it dries.

Repeat the process for each of your oreo mouse cookies. When they are all done, let them harden a little bit.

Go in and with the red gel make two dots on the kiss for the eyes. It really is a nice touch and makes the mice cookies look so much better.

If you have extra room on the white cream filling of your oreo you can make decorations with the green and red gel. I’ve seen many people do holly leaves with a red holly berry in the middle, but we didn’t have room on our cookies.

These super cute, easy no bake mouse cookies are always the hit of any gathering we bring them to. As easy as they are, there’s really no reason not to make them… the big smile on the kiddo’s face is definitely worth it.

Have fun making your mouse cookies!
