How to Create a Vision and Breathe it Into Life ~ Monday Morning Mastermind (on Wednesday)

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

This past weekend I went to the Empower Network event in Austin Texas. We live in Kansas. I didn’t really want to fly… the idea of navigating an airport by myself completely freaks me out. I decided instead to rent a car and just drive on down.

When my husband found out about this he decided we should all just drive down together and he’d drop me in Austin and then go visit his sister and her family near Houston.

Well, I thought that was great! Shared driving. He asked me to get a map. I forgot. I printed out directions from Google maps. I mean, step by step instructions must be as good, if not better than a map right?!

Well… turns out, not so much.

We made it safely to Austin. I was driving. The instructions weren’t clear about how to get to the hotel. We missed exits. We got lost. There was some yelling.

And then my husband said… “You see. This is why you need a map. You can’t see the big picture without a map.”.

Damn… he’s so smart.

It didn’t really hit me until later in the weekend when we were talking about vision during the event.

You see… you can have step by step instructions on how to do what you need to do, but if you don’t have a map, otherwise known as a VISION, you can’t see the big picture, where you’re really going.

Yes, instructions are great, but when you get off track, or you get lost, without a vision you have no way to know which way is “back on track”.

So, I guess there was a reason why I didn’t get the map… this was a lesson I’d been resisting. Now it is clear… and my vision continues to get bigger and more and more crystal clear every day.

I want that for you too… so today we’re going to talk about how to create your vision, and how to breathe it to life. Get a pen and some paper… you’re going to want to take notes. You can also ask questions and share your thoughts in the comments section. We’ll be keeping an eye on them.
