Sad to say, but this is actually a news headline. Vince Young bankrupt. Started from the bottom, now he’s here. Well, you get my point.
Vince Young, an ex NFL quarterback who once had a multimillion dollar contract, is now facing bankruptcy.
How does this happen to someone who had so much money?
I’ve heard people ask this question over the last few days..criticize him…make jokes and honestly…I speculate that most of them are hypocrites.
There are many people who can’t manage a fraction of the money Vince Young has had come through his fingers…
….but yet are being judgmental. Hmmm….interesting. Dumb actually.
The last time I checked, if a person is not good at managing a small amount of money (or never learned how to), them making more money doesn’t magically solve that problem.
This story, in my opinion, isn’t about making a spectacle of Vince Young. Maybe he’s embarassed and I understand if he is. But that shouldn’t be the lesson here.
The lesson is…regardless to who you are…and how much money you make, if you don’t have a sound base of financial education, you’re in trouble.
It’s not about how much money you make, it’s about how much you keep and what you do with it.
I’ve always taken being financially literate seriously and try to continually learn more information to help me be sound in my financial decisions. I’ve adopted people like Robert Kiyosaki as my distant mentors on the topics of business and money.
I’ve shared a lot of the information I’ve learned over the years on this very blog (click here) so check it out for yourself.
Why have I done that you ask? Good question.
One, because school teaches us jack diddly squat about money. One of the most important subjects to your survival as an adult, and it’s rarely even talked about in school?
A travesty I must say…a travesty.
Secondly, as great as my family is, nobody taught me this stuff growing up. I may have gotten certain nuggets here and there but people can’t teach what they don’t know themselves, right?
So, I like to share what I know so others may grow along with me. I think that’s only right.
Lastly, I do it because I hate seeing headlines like: Vince Young Bankrupt.
If I had a magic wand, not only would everyone be as financially prosperous as they personally desired, but they’d also be able to sustain that livelihood and never lose it.
Having it and losing it is not a fun feeling. Believe me, I know….
…..and education is the key to preventing that from happening. So, whether it’s here through reading my blog or through other means, begin increasing your financial literacy and taking your financial education seriously.
Just ask Vince Young.
Please share this with your friends!
P.S. Want a blog of your own? Wanna get your message out, build your brand, have your own soap box, entertain your visitors or promote your product/service?
I had several choices when setting up my blog, some free. And I LOVE free. But…
I only found one blog platform that is ridiculously user friendly, allows me to blog from my mobile device, is so low tech that all I have to worry about is blogging….
….allows me to post affiliate links (which WordPress doesn’t, which severely dampens my money making potential)….
AND allows me to generate 100% RESIDUAL commissions when I refer others who buy this same blog platform.
Yep, for the cost of a half a tank of gas (okay okay a fourth a tank of gas) I have the best blogging platform in the world at my disposal.
