Sliders are fast steal not fast meal

Sliders are thieves who prey on Women’s purses while at gas stations.

Corroborated by Snopes.com the fact checking organization,  the method these thieves use is to pull up to a car at a gas station, slide out while keeping low, and grab a purse that is usually available on the front seat.

Sliders are targeting women driving alone for the likelihood of an available purse and contents such as jewelry as well as cash and cards.  But its clear that the technique that sliders are employing will get them anything that is laying there on the front seat.

Sliders are targeting you or someone you know.

Preventative measures against sliders are really just common sense.

• Keep your purse with you as you pump the gas.
• Lock the car, but remember your keys!
• Be aware and scanning, as we should when in public anyway.
• Like many thieves, Sliders are opportunists.  Don’t create an opportunity!

Sliders are fast at their craft.

The longest time could be 19 seconds, but often far less.  Think about what is required.  Get out of the car, keep low, open passenger door, grab whatever’s there, get back into car.

Not long at all.  Easily done while we are looking at the cost dial on the pump rolling up the price.

That sliders are doing this has been corroborated.  As news of this spreads we can expect that there will be many copycats.  What we need to do is to spread the word to as many of our friends and family as possible.  We can combat that sliders are on the rise by becoming more vigilant ourselves.
