Han: “I don’t know, I can imagine quite a bit.”

Han Solo’s imagination for wealth possibilities was probably extensive.  But it may have revolved around the examples of wealth that he was used to seeing…that is, the lifestyles of crime lords like Jabba.  I can imagine a somewhat different set of uses for wealth, can’t you?

First off the basic physical needs of our family and ourselves must be taken care of.  This would include housing & mortgages, food & health care, schooling & university, transportation, and debt elimination.  Possibly not always inspiring, but vital and often our first big “Why”.

Next I can imagine an upgrade in one or more of those categories.

I can imagine a nicer house or a second home in a climate that suits your leisure activities; sailing, fishing, hiking, skiing, snowmobiling, scuba diving, horseback riding, etc.

I can imagine having the money to eat only organic fresh healthy foods, and go out to eat more often at nicer restaurants.  Have access to the best healthcare without worry about networks and deductibles. Be able to afford the best care for aging parents or special needs children.

I can imagine affording the most invigorating and stimulating experiences for our school age children.  Choosing the university best suited for our children without regard to its cost.

I can imagine not delaying car repairs and maintenance. Buying the safest car for our teen driver.  Choosing up a class or two and paying cash, never a car loan again.

I can imagine paying off all debts; credit, student loan, car loan.  Debts to people and institutions that have helped us get where we are today.

Now I can imagine going even farther.

What are the dreams that you have no longer let yourself dream?  What were the grand plans that got shelved because “life got in the way”? What were you “going to do someday” as soon as you had the time and money?  Travel?  Live awhile abroad?  Take up or pursue an expensive hobby?  Be able to give more than just your time to your favorite cause or charity?

Do you want to measure wealth in doing and helping?

Do you want to measure wealth in friends and people?

I can imagine that more dollars would help.  Couldn’t you?

I can imagine that you may be thinking that I’m going overboard.

Dreaming is not a crime.  Not doing something about your dream IS.
