The First Time – Getting out of My Comfort Zone

You know – I really do find it hilarious – when I look back on my life – I am absolutely Amazed, by the amount of times – I’ve pushed myself out of my comfort zone…The First Time – Getting out of My Comfort zone and travelling across the world….

I moved to New Zealand 20 odd years ago from London – on a whim !!

yes it really as that spontaneous…The First Time – Getting out of My Comfort zone

I had met a gorgeous man in London – he just blew me away…

You know tall, dark, big blue eyes and boy was he a goodie…

So much so – that when he said he had to return to New Zealand (where he was from)….I just jumped at coming with him.. even though I had planned to go to Canada as a Nanny…..

Things however, didn’t quite go according to plan, we travelled across the world….to get there…

Toronto, Vancouver, Hawaii, Australia, Fiji and finally NZ…..

and suffice to say…shortly after we arrived in my beautiful adopted home..

I was on my own… my choice I hasten to add…he didn’t ditch me or anything….

One of the first things  I did,  was go down South and do a Bungee Jump, it was even more exciting/scary as it was the first Christmas away from anyone I knew..

and I took a stranger with me.. as a ‘passenger, but thats for another blog…

I had travelled down South on my own, with a strange passenger,

plus I decided on Xmas Eve to do White Water Rafting in the morning and a Bungee in the afternoon!.

(No thats not me, I actually can’t find the photo, and we didn’t have digital cameras back then).  The First Time – Getting Out of My Comfort Zone? (Im really not too sure!)

Funny as at that time I would hate to walk into a busy room on my own but I was ok to do a bungee?

There will be some pscyhological explanation for that Im sure.

I just know I’ve always been an adrenalin junky… you just cannot beat that ‘buzz’ ..

I have to say once I got up to the plat form and had my feet tied, I was petrified, however I am someone who doesn’t back out of something, and also I had made a friend ‘Jill’ from Ireland who was jumping right behind me too.

My heart was going.

The guys were amazing, they told me to look ahead and not down…stand on the edge, hands out and ‘jump out as if your going to dive’ – being that they do this every day with people, I thought they know what they are talking about – so I took the leap.

My language was not very

pleasant jumping,

I screamed ‘Jesus Christ and F***k’ I believe !! :)

It was Absolutely amazing – it wasn’t a very warm day so despite having wanted to initially drop into the water, I had opted not to,

I stopped just short of it, left dangling for a while before the boat comes to get you.

Even though it was 20 odd years ago I remember it so well, that bungee jump

what a blast, not sure I would do it again however !! :)

The First Time – Getting out of Your Comfort Zone

So 20 years on, I planned to do a sky dive for my 50th birthday.

Something I had thought about for years.

I woke up on a gorgeous day, we all piled into the car, my teenage kids and the dog!)

and drove the hour or so to the Airodrome.

Once again those feelings of 20 years ago started to re appear,

heart beating,

dry mouth but so Very excited….

All I can say was it was amazing,

to have my kids and my third ‘fur’ baby down below watching

and waiting for me was just fantastic.

Of course, I did a tandem Sky Dive,

as it was my first time.

I can’t say I wasn’t scared but unlike the Bungy there was no second guess.

I was attached to the instructor and I was going !!

Jumping out of that plane was just incredible.

Having flown all over the world, I am used to looking down at the ground from a plane but to be outside in the air, the feeling is just something I can’t explain.

I can only recommend that you do it !!

So why do I share this story.

Because if a shy introverted girl from Wales can do this,

You Can Do it Too.

There is nothing You can’t do,

its just about getting out of your comfort zone,

whatever that is.

Grab those chances,

go do that ‘thing’ you’ve always wanted to do but being too afraid to….

do whatever it takes!  even if its not a bungee or a sky dive !!

And Yes I’ve done Plenty of things since these to get out of my comfort zone..

And Guess What – I Love It and I Continue to Grow…So there You Go, I hope you Enjoyed MY First Time – Getting Out Of My Comfort Zone...
