Someone referred this video to me today, and I thought I’d share it with you and my other readers.  I am always looking for free ways to increase traffic to my websites.

In this video, a member of the website docstoc.com shares 7 ways to increase traffic to your website for free.  It’s a quick video, under 3 minutes, and gives you some great ways to boost website traffic.

Below the video I have added a few comments of my own.

Do these Ways to Increase Traffic to Your Website Really Work?

Obviously, the information in the video seems useful here, but does it really work?  Here is my experience:

Search engines are great for bringing you traffic for free.  It’s not a “fast” way to increase traffic to your website, but it does work.  You might have found this post because of the search engine optimization I’ve done.

Social Media can bring you great free traffic, too.  Simply posting your content on your own personal social media sites (Facebook, Facebook Fan Page, Google+ Page, etc.) can at least get the information out there to the people who follow you.  You might be reading this post because of how I shared it on social media.

When you refresh your content frequently, you demonstrate to your audience that your site is active and  new useful content.  Publishing new content often notifies search engines and gives you an increase in site traffic.  I work to blog every day with something new for my readers.

Making Viral Content (creating a “Viral Loop”) really does turn your site visitors into marketers on your behalf.  You simply need to write about popular topics, or provide a unique viewpoint that generates a bit of controversy.  I’ve had a few posts gain traction with sharing because of the topics I’ve written about.

Finally, if you solve a compelling need through your content, it will be more likely to be spread as viral content through social media and that will increase traffic.  This post is a good example!
